I hate the dodgers but them against the giants is pretty sick

How can you hate the Dodgers? They are the smartest organization in baseball and go and get the pieces to stay at the top of the standings every year. I would love an ownership group and front office like the Dodgers.

horsefeathers the Dodgers.

Yadi looks like he's already started his retirement diet. He's going to be 400 pounds by next spring.

The Cubs should honor him next year by having a neck tattoo night.

Certain Cubs fans hate the Dodgers because the Cubs were supposed to be the NL Central Dodgers for the foreseeable future, and instead were the NL Central Dodgers for, like, 3 years and then gave up/failed.

Of course those same fans are going to sweatily crow about how both teams only have one recent WS to show for it, but those people are deep in denial.

Chris Taylor is like the 15th best player on the Dodgers and I would trade pretty much anyone on the Cubs major league roster for him, which is fun.

He's one of my favorite non-pitching FAs to sign. He will probably be affordable (even for the Cubs) coming off of $7.8 million last year.

If the 106-win dodgers go out in a one-and-done, we'll lose the best playoff format in sports and I will be sad.

We are going to lose it anyway.

Yeah. Unfortunately, I think the 2020 COVID playoffs were a preview of things to come.

Cardinals 0-10 with RISP. LOL.

Dodgers probably repeat if they get by the Giants

And unfortunately, I think they have the advantage against the Belt-less Giants too.

At least the Dodgers are without Kershaw and Muncy

Even without Kershaw and Muncy Dodgers should be heavy favorites, Giants may have had the better, by one game, regular season but, they are not the better team. The Giants are a one season phenomenon, I'd say they are excellent candidates for 30+ game swing next season - 100+ wins to 70+ and out the playoffs next season. Still, why can't this kind of Giants gypsy magic [expletive] happen for the Cubs, just once? I'd take it.

A 30 game swing for the Cubs' current roster puts them at .500 for next year.

Ok, I had 30+ above, you're correct, was not thinking in terms of 15-15 which would put them at 86-76, no? How about a 50+ game swing, would that work?

Luckily pretty much every one on both sides have rightfully poo poo'd that. I think the expectation should be this idea that was floated a few years ago

I think the players will try to keep it to 12 teams, but this is what the owners want. So if even they're wanting to cap it at 14 I think we're safe from last year's nonsense coming back.

I hope so, that who playoffs was so weird and felt fake (also because of the neutral sites and lack of fans until later on).

People on twitter always joke about the Dodgers Mickey Mouse Championship but it really does feel like that. It doesn't feel like the Dodgers won a legit World Series last year.

Also, one thought I had about the proposed playoff expansion - If this was in place for the 2020 season, do the Cubs still do their sell off or do they add even though they were a .500 team? Not that I loved watching the entire identity of the Cubs change overnight but this is why I hate playoff expansion, more mediocre teams making short term decisions to sneak in as a mediocre team

I don't love giving the Dodgers credit, but honestly I think most of the mickey mouse stuff last year made it harder for them to win, not easier. But I do think they probably need to win another one to fully cement their status as an all-time group. And while they're certainly not in trouble, I do think their contract situation is about to start getting sticky enough that they're no longer going to waltz to 100+ wins every year, so this is likely their last best shot.

I don't doubt that it was hard. Maybe I'm using Mickey Mouse championship in the wrong way. The whole season and playoffs just felt....fake. I'm not sure how else to describe it. 60 game season, a bunch of fairly big rule changes, no fans in the stands which made the atmosphere eerie much of the time, temporarily expanded playoffs that put several mediocre teams in the mix, outlier performances from players due to small sample size, playoffs all played at a neutral site after the WC round. I'm glad they had a season and I did get some enjoyment out of it, but it just never felt like a real season to me. If the Cubs had broken their championship drought that season, I would have felt like the drought was still ongoing afterwards.

The fact that the Dodgers won the World Series is something I've had to remind myself about several times even though I watched most of the series.

The Cubs finished the 2020 season in first place.

If that isn't the best argument for the whole thing feeling fake, then I don't what is.

Meh, that happens all the time, with every team. The Braves through my lifetime are a great example.

Then again, I realize you’re just being snarky. Proceed.
