I don't think there is one even slightly realistic scenario that would make me excited about the up and coming season.
Growth from Pat Williams and acquiring a PG would push them into playoff territory. Probably not enough to get them past the first round but Knicks fans had a lot to be excited over this year and unless you get another true superstar you usually need to crawl before you run They need some more shooters and big improvement on defense.

How realistic are the chances of getting Lonzo?

Yeah I'd like to see what a full season with Vuc and Zach looks like god willing they stay healthy. Growth from Williams is something I look forward to seeing but I'm less sure about him than I was mid-season. Bulls also have a ton of expirings that should allow them to improve the team either this offseason or at the deadline. Bulls aren't winning a title anytime soon but they have a decent structure for a plug and play superstar to come in if lady luck smiles in our favor.

I've been kind of assuming they'll be a playoff team next year. Probably wrong of me but LaVine has improved every year so far. Him and Vuc for a full year will be enough for a 6-8 seed IMO. Williams improving and I have faith they'll get a PG.

Lavine is kinda recruiting Lonzo, but he won't be cheap or without options. I do think AK will pull off something. My bold prediction is a trade for Malcolm Brogdon.

I mean, they'll probably get lonzo ball and make the playoffs with 2 fun scorers. It will be more fun than what we've been seeing

As a Pacers fan reading this you piqued my interest. What do you think the Bulls would be willing to give up?

My only warning is that even though I may want to go backwards a little bit, the Pacers don't, and their hiring of Carlisle makes that even more clear. They won't make a deal unless they think it makes them better next year.

He would be a great fit with the roster. I wanted him pretty bad when he was a FA 2 years ago. Not sure what it would cost, but I think I’d rather have Lonzo as I’m assuming he’ll cost less in a S+T than Brogdon will in a trade. Salaries would probably be pretty close. I think Brogdon gives you more offensively as a primary ballhandler in the half court, whereas Lonzo gives you a little more defensively. I think Lonzo being younger and showing improvement over each of the last 2 years gives me some confidence that he may get better moving forward as well.

Regardless, I would love either one. Both will improve the defense (could it get worse than Coby?) and both can play off the ball and shoot 3s at a good percentage and volume.

Yeah, Carlisle hire may make a trade less realistic. And I have no idea what the Bulls would trade. Their only bargaining chips are Thad Young's expiring contract (came from Pacers so doubt they'd want him back), Markannen in a sign-and-trade (redundant with Sabonis?), and Coby White (not sure Bulls want to trade him). Probably have to have a 3rd team involved.

I just went through them all before seeing the list of those on it and I'm mad at how many I missed:

English, Richmond, Aguirre, Moncrief, King, Bowie, Daugherty, Mahorn.

Oh, now I see the bigger pic. My fault, TT.

Should we package LaVine for Dame?

While Dame is definitely better, I don't know that that gets you where you want to go. The dream is to find a way to get them together, but there's basically no way to do that unless Portland thinks Pat Williams is going to be a star

Figure out a way to facilitate Dame to Philly, Simmons to Chicago. Pretty unlikely unless Portland just commits to blowing it up, but if Dame forces his way out they might not have much of a choice.

Yeah, I love Dame but, being 30, they'd have to get good elsewhere in a hurry. Lavine is already a better shooter and he's still young enough to make another leap. I'd love Simmons and a young, switchable 4, though.

Pip has lost his damn mind. Phil ain’t the one.

I've thought about this since reading his GQ article last week. Scottie in the past has been pretty guarded in what he says, but has been known to let something slip every once in awhile that is along the lines of the things he's saying. Doubling down on calling Phil a racist is pretty bizarre, but the rest of the stuff he's said does not surprise me, it only surprises me that his filter is off.

Then I remembered that Scottie's son died literally 2 months ago. I wonder if that has anything to do with it...the man has to be grieving, and people do unusual things while they grieve.

I was going to ask how the living hell such insane passages escaped everyone's notice, but apparently the book was published in 1975. I had no idea Jackson was famous enough to have a book deal at that time.

Scottie's just trying to save face. "The Last Dance" did him no favors.
