Re: Packers kicking that FG

If they don’t make it on 4th and goal, they have to make a stop and score a TD. Kicking that FG means they still have to make a stop and score a TD. They had a chance to tie the game, make a stop and kick a FG to win in regulation. It makes no sense.

There’s a lot of people out there that like Tony Romo as a color guy, but holy hell, he is awful. Just a dumb goober who guesses wrong on every play. What makes it worse is that even after he’s wrong he talks over the live action trying to explain how “it was there though”. Just bad.

I think he was really good at first. He was relatively young when he started in the booth. And he wasn't a meathead like most of the defensive guys who do color commentary. But I agree he's pretty terrible to me now.

Kicking that FG is one of the all time stupid decisions I’ve seen. Just completely bonkers.

Yeah, that’s just as bad, if not worse than the punts by the Titans and Steelers in the first round.

Hard to believe. Literally picked up Brady and instant Super Bowl. That’s how good he is.

Tampa went 7-9 last year with a QB who threw 30 interceptions. All they needed was a competent QB who could see straight and knew what he was doing.

They struggled to beat a 7-9 Wash team with a crap QB and they only beat the Saints because Brees threw 3 picks and can’t throw the ball more than 10 yards own the field.

Obviously he was the guy who was available but there’s probably a dozen QBs who could have come in and led Tampa to an 11-5 record and won a playoff round or two.

As a Packers fan, I wanted them to kick the fg. I just thought they had a better chance to stop them and score than get the td and the 2 point conversion, and then still having to stop them from driving and kicking a fg to win.

Lol. I had to take a walk around the block because it was so stupid. I didn't even stick around to see if the FG was good.

Hopefully the 2020 Bears who went 8-8 can select one of the dozen available QB’s for the 2021 season so they can win a round or 2 next year.

I just meant that there are probably a dozen other QBs (if not more) who could come in and do the same thing. He was the only one who was available. I didn’t mean there were a dozen available QBs that Tampa could have picked up to go 11-5.

Whoever is the road team in the Superbowl needs to wear all white uniforms. A hideous color combination against each other. They played earlier this year and it was ugly (not the game, the aesthetics). Can't have that on that national stage.

Tampa Bay’s sports year:

-Lightning win Stanley Cup

-Rays make World Series

-Buccaneers make Super Bowl (played in Tampa!)

-Raptors move to Tampa for a year

And ironically would likely have lost in the playoffs this year to that same QB if he had been the starter for the Saints.

I get this angle. I just think stopping them on a drive starting at the 8 is easier than stopping them on a drive starting at the 20-25. And consequently scoring after a punt from inside the opponents 10 is easier than scoring after a punt from the opponents 30-35.

And now that I think about it, I think LaFleur made that call because it was before the 2-minute warning. But if that's the case, the squib kickoff is another bad decision because if the returner didn't give himself up, the Packers would have lost that in their favor if that was part of the decision making.

Both parts of that drive me nuts. I told my friend before the kickoff that I would tell the return man to bring it out no matter how deep the kick was to run off the 5-6 seconds before the two minute warning taking away the extra "timeout" the Packers were counting on. GB should have tried to kick it out of the end zone to try to prevent that. Then those idiots squib kick it to help Tampa Bay but their return man said "hold my beer" and slid down voluntarily with 2:02 left on the clock. I couldn't believe it.

Too bad for Packer fans their beloved decided to be Bear-like for the NFC Championship. The TD before the half? That's Bear 101, Eddie Jackson with his arms in the air saying WTF happened, LOL.

But, seriously what tremendous disappointment for Packer fans, your HOF QB arguably having a career year, with a well rounded offense, solid defense, a really good team, I thought them to be the SB favorite, KC not withstanding. Now they, like Bear fans, can watch another team in the SB maybe, Amos can watch it with his best buddy Mitch.

I thought the same thing, except when Brady was throwing INTs I also thought the same about TB. All around there were mistakes being made that were beneath these teams. It got pretty bizarre at the end, with LaFleur's call being the capper for me. For Rodgers' part, after the game he said the call wasn't his to go for the FG. To me that's really close to saying it was BS, but maybe I'm reading into it.

I agree if you are a Packer fan you've got to be wondering what it takes to get over the hump.

Even dumber than the Packers FG was Romo's incredulity with Buffalo going for 2 when they did. They were going to need to convert at least 2 of those to win, you horsefeathering moron.

Romo was 100% right on that. You kick the PAT there to get you to a 2 score game. The odds are still miniscule at that point but by failing on the 2 point conversion there you kept it at a 3 score game which ended their chances completely.

When you look at the statistics Rodgers was amazing, even for him, every chance he took worked, it was all going for him, how many possible int's hit Bears defenders in hands and were dropped, 3, 4? I thought last year' 13-3 team was a fraud but, this year' version was genuine, legitimately good.

Eh.

Incidentally I think teams should go for 2 more often like when you capitalize on a big TO and pound one in. Go for two, it's like house money, and you might miss a PAT anyways.

No, that's not true. That's better for fans because it keeps drama in the game longer. But for the team who is trying to win the game, it's better for them to know ASAP.

That way they don't plan their strategy around a 2 point that was going to fail. If it's going to fail, you want time to plan a new strategy, no matter how much of a long shot that new strategy is.
