Holy crap! I mean the 1st rounds picks are the key to the trade but not sure why rebuilding Detroit would take on Goff's contract. And I knew Goff was going somewhere. Can't expect to just come back like normal when your coach and GM flat out say they need a better QB. But damn.

Th\ere are plenty of starting QBs in the NFL worse than Goff. Maybe the Lions thonk they can build around him.

The Rams don't have a 1st round pick this year (as usual) so their 1sts next year and in 2023 aren't as valuable as a 1st this year would be. Plus, they basically paid the Lions to take on Goff in this deal. I think if SF offered #12 and another pick next year, it may have been just as valuable to the Lions since they wouldn't have had to take on a bad contract (Jimmy G would just get cut in this case).

 

For those keeping track, the Rams officially won't have 1st round picks from 2017 thru at least 2023. 7 straight drafts.
