Starting to seriously think about giving up my tickets.

I'm still hanging onto mine for now, but it is a year-to-year decision. I wonder how quickly the Cubs are going to exhaust the entire waiting list with the combination of higher prices, economic challenges, and poor performance. Even in the best years, my tickets have been break even at best, and this year has the potential to be a huge loss. For the amount of money I spend on Season Tickets, I could easily just set aside a fund and buy tickets to whatever games I wanted to each year. Anything short of a World Series is going to be relatively affordable, and it doesn't look like we're going to see another World Series anytime soon.

Yeah, even WC and NLDS games after 2016 weren't going for that much over face. And the NLCS tickets didn't go for near what I expected. I think most people were saving up for WS tickets which I wasn't going to sell at any amount. That's the sole reason I got season tickets in the first place.

My turn is coming up. I'm going to probably decline since I'm still 5-10 years away from retirement. Financially, it'll be too much of loss to sell about 10k- 20k worth of tickets of a bad product every year until then.

Oh yeah, I horsefeathering hate the Ricketts too.

Let me know whenever you need tickets.

Getting the call in 2013 ended up being perfect timing. My 13 year old is experiencing his first truly bad Cubs team. I've been able to pretty much break even since 2016, but I don't have much confidence in that over the next couple of years.

I started in 2013 as well. But what you said above is the problem. You roughly break even in the good years, and take a bath in the not-so-good years. My goal was never to make money, but I can't sustain multiple consecutive years of huge losses and continue to buy tickets. Taking the losses in 2013 and 2014 was palatable because of the promise of what was coming, but this time the future is more unclear.

I've been told I'm finally getting the call for season tickets this offseason

I got an email, then a post card. I think last year I was still in the 30,000 range.

EDIT: Just got a second email. They are working hard.

I declined mine. I guess you're welcome.

They emailed, called, emailed again, called again, and sent a postcard. If I get another phone call, I will just say horsefeathers the Rickets and hang up

They are adding half-season ticket plans for newcomers and put together this new guide:

https://cubs.fanportal-mlb.com/2022/waitlist

Looks like you only get four location options with the half-season guide but the savings aren't as much because they charge more on a per-ticket basis in that plan. Upper Box Reserved full season is like $2300 but for half the games it's $1900

Lol, what a deal

$3300, but yea. Guessing they got a lot of thoughtful response along the lines of what I told them when they offered the opportunity this fall.

I probably should have known this by now, but when I clicked through mine I saw the schedule that basically just did Thursday/Friday games and asked if that was an option. Was told that they haven't offered that in years, was just for the people that were grandfathered in, and then her super helpful suggestion was to find more friends to split up the full season. Like she didn't see the last two months of bleacher tickets going for $5/each on Stubhub.

Well, I'm officially a half-season ticket holder, fulfilling a lifelong dream of lining awful billionaires pockets with my hard earned, scarce money, to support a team lined up for years of failure.

The Cubs continue to stalk me almost daily trying to get me to buy season tickets since my # came up. Daily emails, almost daily phone calls and a couple of snail mail post cards.

My new STH rep called me yesterday to try & talk me out of not renewing after I let them know I'm done because the owners don't care about winning. Surely they can't be that desperate.

I got a text a couple weeks ago asking if I needed any help renewing, which I ignored, and then a couple days later got an email from her saying she was taking a different job within the organization. Haven't heard anything since, so maybe I just slipped through the cracks? Should probably make sure there's no auto-renew thing going on.

If it was Hannah she got promoted. My new rep is Ariel.

Yep, same thing. Must not have gotten to me on her list yet, if I'm even on the list. Can't imagine my 3 years of 2 bleacher tickets ranks very high.
