I finally gave up my seats this season after 9 years. I kind of miss having them but I just haven't been able to make it to as many games and had a kid last year so I would have needed another seat anyway.  I got that same email today, I was surprised to see that.

You're lucky you still have your core group of people that buy from you. A lot of the people that bought from me moved away from the city and it became too much of a hassle to sell them online.  The ticket prices are so high now that I was having a hard time breaking even.

I moved to Arizona. So now 2 of the people who used to buy from me share my seats. So now I have 27 games. I come to Chicago for 6 to 8 weeks during the baseball season ( in Chicago now) and fo to 10 games. I sell the other 17. No issues.

I joined the list in 2010/2011 at around 130,000 in line and got the call just before the 2020 season. The line slowed to a creep from 2015-2017, but other than those years I was making some big leaps.

It’s a lot of work still. But I network the best I can. When I go I always ask whoever is sitting next to me how they got their seats and do they come often. If they say they go to 4 or 5 games a year and buy through the box office or even a secondary market I ask them if they like the seats and would they be interested in me sending them a list of games I have available. I have good seats so no one is ever disappointed. I explain they are cheaper than the box office. I have added two people that way. I send a list out early and have people pick games. Then put the rest on the secondary market. When the Cubs were good I would charge a little over my price but cheaper than the box office. Had no issues with that. But as I said, it is work. You have to stay on it. They are not going to sell themselves. As far as that goes if anyone here goes to a few games a year and needs a pair let me know. I am now selling at only my cost. I can put you on a list for next year.

Where are your seats? I've relocated every year since becoming a STH. Still searching/waiting for the right spot.

223 row 9. Back when I was a kid those were called grandstands. Now they are terrace reserve preferred. First base side betwee home and first. Perfect view of the entire park with no obstructions. The roof overhang is just enough to keep us dry during rainy days yet we are close enough forward so that the roof doesn’t hinder a view of a fly ball. Neither the roof nor the poles obstruct our view of anything. I have relocated 2 times to get to these seats. But that was year 2 and 3, back before the 14 and then 15 season. Been here ever since and won’t move.

I used to do that too. I used to be friends with the people who sat around me.  I moved seats in 2021 and ever since I moved I never ran into my seat neighbors.  I just became too busy to do person to person selling in addition to online selling and it became too much work.  I did really love my seats and it was nice having the same seats and knowing the area every time I went.  I don't nearly go as much but I might PM you next time I need seats.

Absolutely. You can do that anytime. As I said I can also put you on an email list to send out dates I will sell. Got 2 in that section. Going a Monday, actually. Then the following week going to a game against the Giants and then Friday against the diamondbacks. Only in Chicago for 2 more weeks.

Blow your mind fact, but in all my trips to Wrigley in my lifetime I have only sat in the lower bowl one time and that was as a kid when I was about 6. I'm long overdue to revisit the lower bowl. It's just that since I was old enough to buy my own tickets, I have always preferred the upper deck view.

I get it. I never really ever bought “grandstand” seats before I got season tickets. The view is perfect and being under the roof a little does help on very hot or rainy days. Honestly I wouldn’t change my seats for any other section. Great value for what you get.

I received notification about buying into by friday this week to get seats for 2024, and getting access to Playoff tickets this year. I wanted to try to get 4 Seats, as I have 2 kids, but I may start with 2 seats and up when I am a bit more cash-flow positive.

Ultimately, I am looking for partner/partners. Anyone have interest, please reach out direct at candidcubs@gmail.com! Would love to talk about it!

And the Season Ticket Waiting List is no more...

Quote

The Cubs released season tickets to the public Monday, including a new 20-game plan with seats available in the field box outfield, upper box infield, upper box midfield and upper box outfield sections. Fans also can purchase a 40-game plan or full season tickets.

Another phone call and email follow up. How many times do I have to tell them I don’t want season tickets?

They called again. Fans must not be all that supportive of the offseason effort

I received a few emails and texts from Chris Cascio in the past couple of months Then last week, he called me directly.  I would love to get season tickets or a small package pf tickets.  But I live in Arizona and don't get to Chicago anymore too often. The person(s) I was going to split with can't pony up the needed cash.  So I'm out, sadly.

I have season tickets. I have about 18 games left. If you know any games you want, IM me. Selling at my face price. Just want to get rid of my last few games. BTW, I live in Az too. Which is why I have some to sell.

So my brother and I were individually on the wait list once each.  He waited a decade and so did I and both times we were unable to commit.  I was gutted because my number came up a couple of years ago and I had to put my money towards something else.

Well, I go to the website randomly and I see something about season tickets and think "Oh gee, should I add my name to the list again?" and guess what?  You can just horsefeathers buy them.  Full, half, and quarter-season packages. Just open availability.  We waited two decades and now you can just get them whenever.  Like... cool that anyone can do that but it also kind of feels like for two decades they horsefeathers gate kept these damn things and now they're giving them away because fans got fed up with their horsefeathers.

So if you don't want to commit to a full season, you can just buy a limited package.

EDIOT: Jusat now seeing it was mentioned earlier in the thread. Sorry.  I'm still bitter about it though.

If you live in Arizona and are only going to be in Chicago for a handful of games, there is no reason whatsoever to even consider Season Tickets.  Buy a small ticket package, buy individual games through the Cubs, or simply wait and pick up tickets below face value on StubHub...  any of those are good options.  I get that there is a certain pride in in being a Season TIcket Holder (I am one myself), but I really can't recommend the experience to anyone who doesn't plan to attend a large number of games.  Trying to unload excess ticket inventory is a nightmare and gets more difficult every year.

I had a few others that were going to "go in" with purchasing the tickets. They live in Chicago and have the ability to go to games quite often.  I would have them for me personally more as a luxury to use when I visit and for potential playoffs, WS.  But my "financial partners" are no longer an option and I'm not willing to pay myself as I clearly wouldn't use many tickets each season.

Yeah, I get it, but don't feel bad about missing out.  You are in an infinitely better and more flexible position not being tied to even a subset of games.  Even the playoff perk isn't as valuable as it once was.  I suspect if/when the Cubs make it back to the playoffs, it won't be difficult to find tickets at or near face value all the way up to the NLCS.  The World Series is a different matter, but what are the chances we're actually going to see that again?

I'm baffled as to why you'd give your money to the Ricketts.

I love the game of baseball. I enjoy watching it live. I am a Cubs fan. So I buy tickets and go to Cubs games. Cubs have had far worse owners than Ricketts. And that is the best thing I can say about him.

This year's Season Ticket Holder gifts are here!

Good thing the Cubs got the StubHub sponsorship on both sides and didn't have to spend the $10 per Season Ticket Holder out of their own pockets.  Gotta tighten those belts with the luxury tax bill incoming.

That's "reclaimed wood" from the Wrigley Field roof by the way, dating back to 1928.  What's that you say???  It looks like it was just cut off a brand new 1x4 from Home Depot?  Well, there's no way to authenticate it, so you just have to take the Cubs word for it.
