Season Ticket Waiting List

I could have sworn there was a thread for this but no idea where it is.

In a bit of odd timing I just go notified I'm 1,969 on the season ticket waiting list, although I thought I saw closer to 1,000 when I checked earlier this year. Maybe if I go full time work from home this could happen next season.

My Dad had season tickets from like 1990 to 2005ish, gave them up and put his name on the list just to see how long it would take. Got the call before 2017 (sweet timing), but didn't want them so I took over. Have two bleacher seats and split them up among like 10 people...some people have 20 games, some people have 5, etc. I keep all playoff tickets and we just do a draft where every game is the same price. Worked out pretty well so far, even if I don't know if it's financially 'worth it'. Just good to have a reason to get to Wrigley a bunch.

8,112. Which is what it was a few months ago. Looks like I got another year or two depending on how people respond this offseason.

I got the email too, 539 here. About 5 years too late for me. Kids, Wife, Job all get in the way. Might look into splitting them up like six ways with people and go to about 12 games a year

Honestly, if you (or anyone for that matter) need extra people to split them with I may be interested until my number is called. I live 7 blocks away from Wrigley but I probably wouldn't go all the time even if I could so actually having a limited number of tickets at a lower cost makes sense for me until I can get my own.

For sure! They actually called me this past winter, I want to say just after New Year's saying I was 50/50 to get them this year(not that it would have mattered with COVID) I think I was around 5,000 at that point. I have a couple interested parties too, so if I can get 6-8 people, that would be great. Do some sort of snake draft 1-8, 8-1 etc plus do the same for the postseason. Just need to decide on where for seats, and how many tickets 2 or 4 per game.

Might take you up on that too (or at least, I've thought about opening it up to the board). I'm at the age where my friends are having kids (as did we) and moving out of the city...last year I had to kinda scramble to find people to pick up 5 games just to get our number down to 20. Who knows what's going to happen next year though...

I have 2 full season tickets all to myself, ever since my brother decided to give up his half a few years ago. If anyone is seriously interested in a share, I'm sure we could work something out starting with next season. I can't make it to nearly as many games as I would like, and it is lot of work (mainly for my wife) to get rid of all the extras on Facebook/StubHub.

I pushed my 2020 credit forward to 2021 so fairly positive I'm locked in and regretting it more and more every day. Whatever, can still enjoy the bleachers before the Ricketts start assigning seats and handing out sun umbrellas to GOP donors in a couple years.

Got a notification I could get tickets this upcoming season if people pass and had to fill out a survey saying if I would be interested or not if my number came up

pls respond

I did respond saying I'd be interested. This was before Len left, though. I hate what this team has become. I hate that I spent my whole life wanting to be a season ticket holder and now that I live within walking distance to Wrigley and have the opportunity the team is owned by a bunch of fascists dickheads that make me question my loyalty.

I really debated taking the credit but ended up not doing so. Had to put the deposit down recently and decided to give them up after 17 years. It wasn't an easy decision but a lot of factors came into play:

- I'm still a little bitter about being kicked out of Section 420 (behind home plate, below the media) so they could put in the Catalina Club

- I have no idea what 2021 is going to look like or what tickets will be worth on an open market. I just don't have much desire to pay money to sit at a game in a mask or wait in a line for an hour to get in the ballpark

- It's really hard to get rid of games in April/May

- I have a 3 year old and a 20 month old, but only had 2 seats. Eventually will want to go to more games with them anyways

- Lived in Lakeview until 2016 and went to tons of games then (pre-kids), maybe 30 or so a year. Live about 4 miles west of the stadium now and it can just be a pain in the ass to get over there, and about 10 games a year is enough for me

- What am I really losing as a season ticket holder? The family day is nice but no huge deal. Concert ticket options are nice but not a huge deal to me. Playoff games? I mean how many will there even be in the near future? I was grandfathered into the "Nights & Weekends" package, which was nice. 63 games vs. 82

All in all, I think I made the right choice. Will pick and choose when I want/can go now and if it's a good game/playoff game will just pay a bit extra to go.

Starting to seriously think about giving up my tickets. I bought them the season after we lost 100 games because I had faith in the organization. I was rewarded for that faith in 2016. Without the season tickets I never would have been able to afford going to a World Series game at Wrigley. But living out of state and not getting to use them very often myself they are a big financial loss in most seasons, even playoff ones. If the next few months show us that the plan is another rebuild I am likely out. It just won't be worth it anymore.

Did this two years ago and haven't regretted it once

Starting to seriously think about giving up my tickets.

I'm still hanging onto mine for now, but it is a year-to-year decision. I wonder how quickly the Cubs are going to exhaust the entire waiting list with the combination of higher prices, economic challenges, and poor performance. Even in the best years, my tickets have been break even at best, and this year has the potential to be a huge loss. For the amount of money I spend on Season Tickets, I could easily just set aside a fund and buy tickets to whatever games I wanted to each year. Anything short of a World Series is going to be relatively affordable, and it doesn't look like we're going to see another World Series anytime soon.

I expressed interest in one of the fancy sections just because, and I had a rep email in December to gauge my interest for this year. I responded back that with the Ricketts showing greater interest to fund white supremacists than a competitive roster I would not be buying tickets. Got a real nice reply back from the guy too. Almost feel bad for people working there.
