Dave Wannstedt on the Score is hilarious, said Mitch is better at some things than Mahomes but, he doesn't know what things. I to believe Mitch is better at some things than Mahomes unfortunately, for the Bears and us fans, those things aren't football related.

Jay Cutler is in talks again about a media career. Possibly in the booth or maybe a studio gig with ESPN.

It better not cut into his Very Cavalleri filming time.

OTOH that version of Jay every Sunday morning on ESPN might help the world to see what we see; a kind, thoughtful genius

Ahhhhh, the sweet sweet essence of leadership

He should just start his own sports channel

He should start a handball channel for his new team on their quest for Olympic gold.

The stories begin to write themselves

In before Kyle doom boners.

This would be a good thing (assuming the guarantees aren't crazy)

As you guessed, I'd rather just let him play out the season and then talk extension. But as far as premature extensions go, this one is not that objectionable.

Lol, gotta love the dead period between SB and combine. "What bat [expletive] sense rumors can we throw up to get done clicks?"

Same guy is saying the Bears are offering Khalil Mack in a trade for multiple 1st, 2nd and/or 3rd round picks. And now are talking with the Redskins about moving to the #2 pick.

I mean it's pretty far fetched, but seems like he's doubling down on the original rumor because the only way the Bears have the ammo to move up to 1 is if they move Mack for anything close to what they paid for him. Trading Mack to try to get up to 1 would be the boldest move in the history of sports.

Well just for fun, the Rams trade for Goff was one of the only ones I could think of that was a trade for a top 2 pick where the team moved up from outside that top 10.

That was the the 15th, 2 2nds, a 3rd and a 1st and 3rd from the following year. And neither Goff or Wentz were the prospects Burrow was.

So the Bears are lacking the mid first and the 3rd this year, plus whatever else extra it would cost.

I guess Mack could maybe get you that, but they'd be eating an additional 4m in cap just to move him and would probably have the worst pass rush in the league after the move.

So, I still feel pretty comfortable this is lol crazy.

I get why Cincinnati is "listening" to offers for the top pick, but imagine how "wowed" they would need to be to trade down? They are moving on from their QB of many years and there is one for the taking with the first pick in the draft. If they actually liked another QB better than Burrow that they think would be available a few picks later, I could see them trading. But I doubt anyone is willing to give up what Cincinnati would expect in return for that pick. And I'm clueless how the Bears even remotely fall into the list of teams that could pull off a trade like that.

Bears coaching legend Mel Tucker named the head football coach at Michigan State. :P

I know most Bears fans know he sucked, but just how much he sucked is legendary.

In 2012, the Bears were 1st in Defensive DVOA and ranked among the best defenses since the statistic was created in 1991. In 2013 with Mel Tucker, they fell all the way to 31st in Defensive DVOA.

There were some changes (Urlacher retiring being a big one) and some injuries but most of the defense was the same.

but most of the defense was the same.

that's the problem with defenses, you can't hide weaknesses, and once guys begin to age, the weaknesses abound.

sure, but 2012 had an old, physically 25% of his glorious self Urlacher still manning the helm. He wasn't that big of a loss. The biggest hole was Tucker himself

Yeah its more simple than saying Mel Tucker made a historically (at least within the given timeframe) elite defense into absolute garbage. But he definitely was a big part of it IMO.
