I'm guessing everyone's picking the Broncos, I do not have much faith the Bears are going to turn it around.

Heard something on the Score last night apparently, the Packers spent most of the night in a "dime" package, one of the ways to attack this formation is running the ball. Wouldn't any good offensive coach recognize this and accordingly adjust? In an attempt to make Mitch a pocket passer I'm thinking the Broncos are going try the same thing or something similar. If Nagy' worth anything he'd better make adjustments and exploit what the D is giving them.

Oakland outplayed Denver from the opening tick of the clock to the end. I don't know if that's Oakland being good or Denver being bad. Carr didn't seem bothered by the pressure, or the lack thereof. Carr targeted his TE more often than any other receiver, which is not a strength on this Bears offense. Based on what I saw of Denver last night, the Bears should be able to have their way with Flacco. Whether or not the offense shows up is the million dollar question.

Geez 1 game and we're already convincing ourselves the Bears aren't going to be good this year? Don't get me wrong, last week was very discouraging but I'm not ready to give up on the team yet.

I have a lot of faith in them to be a first-game playoff loser. Which is technically "good."

We saw Tribusky make the same mistakes, this is what has me down on them and, as you said, is very discouraging.

Yeah but while QB is supremely important in the NFL, I'm sure we can pare down the offense to be more conservative and letting our defense win us games. Not going to win us a Super Bowl but also not going to lead us to a 4-12 season where we are probably losing to the Broncos. But also this was maybe Mitch's worst game, with horrible O-Line play and really strange playcalling from Nagy. What I'm saying is, other than getting lucky with INTs, this was probably as bad as the offense can play. They've shown the capacity to play a lot better. Do be concerned abut Mitch long term, but don't think the offense is back to the John Shoop days.

They lost 10-3 not 41-3. Or even 27-10.

The offense has to get going, and last Thursday sucked ass, but I still believe they can figure it out. They showed they could play offense at a very high level last year, no reason they cant this year.

I wouldn't even go close to that far, but yeah, they'll be fine.

I’m not expecting 5-11 or anything. I think a season like last is pretty likely.

But you aren’t winning a Super Bowl with this push if “fine” is the best you can do this year. This is the year we were building toward. You get one more, weaker try next year, then it’s time for yet another retool :(

From afar, I am feasting on how this Nagy dude is clearly a completely shattered human being after DOINK DOINK-gate. Classic Bears.

Kyle and Sofa, Sofa and Kyle - one and the same?

We are both stealing the “doink broke Nagy” bit from deadspin

I assume Kyle is still technically a fan of the Bears. I long ago graduated to simply relishing in how delightfully predictable they are at being such a middling at best franchise that ultimately, hilariously, sucks at almost literally everything football-related. horsefeathers like the ongoing, so obviously inevitable Trubisky deabcle, Staley's reaction to the missed field goal, and Virginia McCaskey's Cryptkeeper-like grip on this team that is going leave it forever cursed to be the preciousssssssssssss of her terrible, terrible family are all good, good horsefeathers you might as well inject right into my horsefeathering veins with the way the fanbase and the local sports media laps up EVERYTHING about them like they're this storied, well-respected franchise.

And now that the Cubs are back to sucking again? GIVE IT ALL TO ME, MORE, MORE. The only downside is I won't get to see sulley's meltdown as it all happens yet again, as it always does. It's going to be a serious race to see whether Bears fans or Browns fans bring us the most joy this season.

I’ll disappear if they start winning, as per usual

It's like this whole thing has played out like I wrote it just to entertain me. The guy sounds like he's possibly already in the throes of a Howard Hughes-esque breakdown and I am HERE FOR IT.
