I assume Kyle is still technically a fan of the Bears. I long ago graduated to simply relishing in how delightfully predictable they are at being such a middling at best franchise that ultimately, hilariously, sucks at almost literally everything football-related. horsefeathers like the ongoing, so obviously inevitable Trubisky deabcle, Staley's reaction to the missed field goal, and Virginia McCaskey's Cryptkeeper-like grip on this team that is going leave it forever cursed to be the preciousssssssssssss of her terrible, terrible family are all good, good horsefeathers you might as well inject right into my horsefeathering veins with the way the fanbase and the local sports media laps up EVERYTHING about them like they're this storied, well-respected franchise.

And now that the Cubs are back to sucking again? GIVE IT ALL TO ME, MORE, MORE. The only downside is I won't get to see sulley's meltdown as it all happens yet again, as it always does. It's going to be a serious race to see whether Bears fans or Browns fans bring us the most joy this season.

justa lotta words that translate to "I am Kyle."

From afar, I am feasting on how this Nagy dude is clearly a completely shattered human being after DOINK DOINK-gate. Classic Bears.

Kyle and Sofa, Sofa and Kyle - one and the same?

We are both stealing the “doink broke Nagy” bit from deadspin

I had that story long before deadspin.

Not yet; he'll graduate to being a cool reformed Bears fan soon enough.

Oh, what the hell; he barely uses it, AND he thinks Trubisky stinks now, too? What did they do with my sulley.

Good stuff regarding Mitch' inability to read through the progressions and not very encouraging. Also, found the article about the Packers' media boasting how they completely shut down Mack funny. Yeah, he was shut down, they horsefeathering HELD him on nearly every pass play and did not get called.

Holding is allowed in this league. It's like going 5 MPH over the speed limit.

this is doing 110 in a 55 with an open container

boohoo the refs is never a good look

Yea.

Even this game, I'd say whining about the refs is dumb.

Theres only been one time I ever thought the refs were to blame for a loss and the scenario was allowing a untimed final play when the game should have ended on a penalty (this was a HS football game).

Every other situation is basically entitled man child whining.

lol in what world was i blaming the loss on the ref? especially when we're talking about that game?

doesn't change the fact that khalil mack gets shafted on holding calls with regularity

also i'm pretty sure there have been way more times than your one high school game that the refs blew calls that altered the outcome of games. like a lot horsefeathering more.

and calvin johnson definitely caught that touchdown. we can all go ahead and admit that now.

the only reason the fail mary is defensible is because it was a result of that debacle with the replacement refs.

Every other bad red call I can ever think of is ultimately a judgement call though. The judgement can be horsefeathering terrible, but that's just part of the game. Totally misrepresentation of the rulebook is another thing. It'd be like an umpire granting 4 outs in an inning.

So yes, that's the only one I can chalk up to the refs without feeling like a whining man child (and fwiw I had no rooting interest in said game). Also this strategy is similar in nature to what the Ravens did in the Harbaugh-bowl SB, which is basically that, running the clock out is valuable if you have the ball with the lead, even if you have to commit murder and/or penalties. A potential shortcoming in the rules, but a correct call nonetheless.

So? Is there some hypothetical alternate world NFL where they call all the holdings that we can shift into?

If not, what does it matter? He produces what he produces.

sooo there are holds that happen routinely that are like speeding 5 mph over and then there's what was in that clip. that play slipping through should not be an accepted thing and pointing out that the refs fail on things like that is something that should be done.

yeah or to keep it sports - ump calls on borderline pitches are like holds on every play it fluctuates based on the ump/ref and situation. Mack strangled is like the Kemp high and outside called strike 3 a couple of weeks back. Does it change the outcome of games? Probably not mostly, but it still shouldn't happen.

OK, so this is a one-time rare call that needs to be complained about?

Because a minute ago the complaint was "doesn't change the fact that khalil mack gets shafted on holding calls with regularity"

no, it's not one time. i've seen a few examples of it since he's been a bear and there are clips online of basically the exact same thing happening when he was on the raiders.

if you want to boil it down, i think elite physically gifted pass rushers probably have that thing happen to them an inordinate amount of times. it's like what defenders would get away with on shaq without a whistle being blown.

Whining or not, that choke hold [expletive] needs to be called, appears to be a Packer specialty vs. Mack. Recalled seeing the same “excellent” blocking on Mack from the Packers last season.

The actual response to the article should have been the fact that Rodgers was sacked 5 times and scored 10 points, maybe that's not actually deserving of an article talking about how you shut down Mack.
