Tell me Descalso got DFA'd.

What else could it be? Unless its Bryant to the IL, which would really suck

Last we'd heard, Bryant said he'd be back in the lineup Friday, so this would be a pretty quick turnaround on that front.

In order of awesomeness:

1. Almora to AAA

2. Descalso to wherever it is washed up players go

3. Bote "getting his head on straight"

4. Vic "getting his head on straight"

5. KB to the IL

Bote could use a reset in AAA, wouldn’t be shocked if it’s him going down and that’s what I’m thinking is most likely. Or else Vic down because we have 3 Cs or a Descalso IL/DFA.

I'm going to be firm in saying it won't be Bote. I'm going to be firm in saying it is Descalso.

Curious to see the roster machinations over the next week between this and what seems likely to be multiple trades. Descalso is an easy casualty, but beyond that do we just see some combo of Vic/Robel/Almora/Bote sent to Iowa, or do we see someone(s) like Schwarber sent out via trade. Edited by Bertz

Descalso is an absolute waste of a roster spot at this point. I'd rather see him go. At least Almora is an OK defender and can occasionally run into one at the plate.

I legit think everything is on the table. I could see them making a big move that nobody is even talking about or trading for Eric Sogard and calling it a day. Or is it spelled Erik? Either way, same point.

Is it wrong that I got mad reading "KB to the IL" as a choice on any list of awesomeness?

Almora is above of Descalso simply because of how Maddon has been using him. If he was just being treated as the defensive replacement that he currently is, he'd definitely be lower. But at this point, need to take him away from Joe.

Sogard horsefeathering sucks and would be a waste of an acquisition. He’s had a hot few months here but his body of work proves he sucks. Galvis is the Jays infielder to get if we are dealing with them.

Sogard and Descalso have basically the same career slash lines. Sogard had a wRC+ of 14 last year, his 17 with the Brewers was a hot May and June and then he was a sub 60 wRC+ player the rest of the year, the previous two years before that he was a sub 70 wRC+ player. His statcast stuff this year shows nothing he’s doing is sustainable, hard pass.

He's still going to be mediocre... but anything is better than Russell

Mediocre is roughly 30x better than what Descalso brings us

Oh, yes. I'm not advocating for Sogard, just saying I could see them making one small trade and calling it a day. Agreed I would want that one small trade to be not Sogard.

Bruce Miles calming the talk of KB being shelved as the corresponding move.

Note to Theo: It doesn't make sense to have a guy with a 43 OPS+ and only getting 10 PAs a month with no defensive value on the roster.
