I watched some of the game. The defense looked slow and atrocious...will probably be a long season but maybe they can sneak out the 8 seed or something.

I guess *maybe* if I squint really hard and Crawford comes back and has a great season I can kinda see this as an 8-seed.

Mostly nah, though, this has lottery pick written all over it. Scraping by the Senators is not where you want to be.

Having $28m in cap space tied to the declines of Kane, Toews and Seabrook for five more seasons is gonna be a pretty big headwind against trying to build another championship run.

Oh well, flags fly forever. Especially when there are three of them.

i didnt watch any games last year but watched a bit of the opener. as previously said, the defense looked atrocious. guys look slow and old. kinda sad that run is over but damn if it wasn't great. let's rack up a few lottery picks and try and do it again.

Will be eternally pissed that the Penguins kinda ruined the Hawks' decade. I could be off-base and biased, but I feel like the Blackhawks 3 rings this decade came against a more competitive NHL, definitely think the Hawks' faced better teams in the West in their run than the Pens did vs. the East in their runs. There's probably isn't quite over yet though.

I don’t know how to judge hockey and I’ve gone from caring about to regular season to not caring until the conference finals to kinda following again but I assume the other team getting more chances than you and scoring on a lot of them is bad

The defense sucks but Cam Ward kind of blows

Awesome finish though. For those that didn’t watch, Kane tied it with 90 seconds left, then 20 seconds later the Leafs took the lead. Finally Kane scored again with 29 secs left to send to OT. leafs then scored about 10 seconds into OT

Try someone other than Ward. I doubt they can keep up the offensive pace. I’ve definitely zoned out on nhl coverage in recent years but seems like all games are high scoring this year. Is this a common thing?

Wards save percentage through 3 games: .843 (14 GA in 89 shots). Again defense has a lot to do with that but he looks really damn slow and often not in good position to make a save. How much longer until we can get Crawford in there?

What’s Crawford’s issue at this point? I read a tweet a few days ago that’s he’s healthy enough to play so what’s next? Rehab assignments? Getting back into hockey shape?

head injuries are wild, man. he's practicing now, so i guess he's "healthy". i think the they're targeting the 18th for his return, unless somebody bumps into him or something.

It's probably just the teams I've seen, but where are the good teams in the NHL?

Regular-season only, I've seen SJ, LA, ANA, CHI, STL, OTW, TOR, NYR and CAR. They all looked like varying degrees of bad. San Jose was mostly just some atrocious goaltending, though.

Toronto threw their back-up goalie out there tonight, still think they're the team to beat

To be fair, the last few Octobers have had more entertaining things to watch.

Yeah, they are the pre 2016 Cubs of hockey. I think they get it done this year, although it might be tough getting out of the East. The West? Maybe Nashville, I think Vegas is going to take a step back
