this literally doesn't make sense

Bad curve balls and hittable fast balls get pummeled

I don't mean the specific pitches today, I mean the entire starting staff this entire season. Quintana was great last season with the Cubs in the 2nd half and in the postseason (outside game 5 NLCS)

Cubs have gotten extremely lucky the last 3 years with pitcher health and effectiveness, so we're paying for it now, I guess.

It ain't pretty

Is it weird that for having the best record in the NL, we never seem to have many games where we just get out to a four run lead and cruise? Every game we trail and then have to hope our sometimes clunky offense can battle back. Just odd.

I've mentioned it before, but it's almost like my brain can't process how it feels like they have the scratch out most of their wins, or come back and win, and that they also have the record they have. It's like there's actually a 120-game winning team lurking under this monstrosity.

I never thought I'd be so annoyed by a Cubs team this far over .500, but here we are.

seriously. scoring runs is about not making outs and not leaving runners on base. and we have a guy slugging .323 batting behind our two best obp guys. and we're too hard on Maddon

It's horsefeathering hysterical that TOMMY LA STELLA was batting in that situation with Kyle horsefeathering Schwarber and Willson horsefeathering Contreras behind him.

I'm foreseeing a leadoff double for Schwarber, a flyout by Willson that moves him to 3B, and then back to back k's by Quintana and Rizzo, all because Joe loves dumb, dumb lineups.

Swung right through some hittable pitches that inning

Chacin was far from sharp. Seems like every bad pitch we make as starters gets destroyed

sometimes clunky offense? 4th in mlb in weighted on base average. 1st in the NL.

if sometimes clunky means sometimes have bad games, i guess that fits pretty much every offense in baseball.

also, "have to hope" they'll battle back is a weird way to characterize it given the way this year has gone.

They’ve been playing like a very bad team and covering it up with sequencing luck for almost a month.

I think this is wrong. I'm not sure, but David will have numbers to prove it.

Run differential for the last 23 or whatever games is -1 per game. They’ve been winning all the close ones and losing all the blowouts. That’s what lucky bad teams do.
