5/31: Cubs (Quintana) @ Mets (Lugo), 6:10 CT NBCSC

There was a blip last night on an otherwise solid couple weeks of baseball. Fear not; the SuperCubs will soon reveal themselves. It starts tonight with Jose Quintana somehow spinning a gem.

 

Since we're heading to New York, I figured I'd add a twist to the themed-thread template. There will be a different theme each game I'm hosting (which might reach into the dozens). But each thread will have something to do with the city of the team we are facing -- movies or television shows located or set in New York; if we are still going in a couple weeks: their terrible pizza, how fat and racist they are, etc.

 

Considering who is one of the Mets' announcers, I think there is only one logical choice to kick things off:

 

 

A lot of people have been lamenting the former Cubs and former Cubs' prospects that we have given away. "I can't believe we gave up Gleyber." "I wish we still had Candelario." "What the hell did you trade Jorge Soler for?"

 

 

There's still a wealth of talent at our disposal, though. Like Kris Bryant. Kris is on pace for yet another 7-win season. But he's in a bad slump right now, going 6-for-his-last-37. He went 0-4 and grounded out with the tying run in scoring position to end the game last night.

 

 

There to pick him up has been Jason Heyward, who has reached base 7 times in the last 2 games after taking my advice to back up from the plate.

 

 

Also on a tear is Anthony Rizzo, who is coming into New York ready to plow over the competition.

 

 

The fraudulent Brewers have opened up a 4.5 game lead in the Central. We know that somehow won't last for long because all of their wins have been:
