I haven done zero research, and don't even know who they've played. But is there a reason the Pirates are 7-2 besides early season anomaly or is there a chance they'll be decent this year?

They’ve started so well/banked a lot of wins already they could end up being kinda Brewers or Cardinal like from last year. Kinda in it but not really for the division and a WC team until the end. They also haven’t really played a real team yet, Tigers for 3, Twins for 2 and Reds for 4. They’re probably still closer to a 78 win team than a 85 win team but the early wins/start will help them outperform projections a bit.

With snow/rain in the forecast tomorrow they should just cancel this game. The forecast for Tues, Wednesday and Thursday looks soo much better.

It's, like, 5% chance of precipitation at game time and then basically 0% for the rest of the day.

Forecast sucks until Thursday

Outside of the temperature all week and maybe the precip during Wednesday's game (40% chance of scattered showers), it's actually not that bad for early April. Looked a loooooooooot worse a few days ago.

because of the mess that nachos make, i think its best if the chips are all crushed and mixed with the cheese and toppings, so they can easily be eaten w/ spoons & forks

i hate getting cheese on my hands at games

please don't hate me

Nine games have been played. Nobody has banked a lot of wins already.

As I'll be able to watch this game, I feel obliged to purchase some nachos on the way home.

As you should.

Going 7-2 to start the season turns a projected 81 win team into a projected 85 win team.

Statistically it does nothing of the sort. If theu are projecting for .500, they've banked 1-2 wins. If they were projected for, say, 70 wins, they've banked 2-3 wins.

For reference, the preseason SPI for Pittsburgh was 1490, slightly below average (average is 1500). After their start, they raised their rating by 5 points and their record projects to 81-81 instead of 79-83, due in part to the ratings of the Cards and Brewers dropping.

Going .500 over 153 games is 76.5-76.5, add in their current record and you’re at 83.5-78.5. Maybe their performance so far raises expectations by a game the rest of the year, there’s 84.5. Splitting hairs at this point over a team that’s going to be 12-15 games behind us in September.

Given their preseason expectations and the light schedule they've had so far, probably fair to say Pittsburgh has banked 2 wins already. That's nontrivial when it comes to wild card contention(and going back to the Cole trade I liked their outlook a bit better than the media consensus), but ultimately 9 games isn't going to make them a Brewers-in-'17-caliber annoyance.

But Belgian nachos probably have raw herring and mayonnaise on them

As it should! My nachos will have to be bean dip and hummus instead of cheese. I'm on a diet. My nachos might even be carrot sticks.
