Hmm...sorry my first thought is how this relates to Ohtani. I wonder if its now an Ohtani or Cobb situation instead of Ohtani and Cobb, unless they are willing to commit to a full time 6 man rotation if Ohtani were to choose the Cubs.

Anyways, I know a lot of people liked him at least a little bit. Can those people go over why they like him? Career 4.58 FIP, 4.2 BB/9, 6.2 K/9

Geez....

Career at home (almost all COL): .841 OPS against, 5.25 ERA, 1.628 WHIP

Career on road: .692 OPS against, 3.31 ERA, 1.34 WHIP

I think how I feel about this depends entirely on how much money Cobb gets. I doubt we're getting both, and I like Cobb more, but if it's 3/30 for Chatwood vs. 4/60 for Cobb I think I'm happier going this route.

I think its 3/$40 for Chatwood

GB heavy, soft contact, keeps the ball in the yard.

that seems like a hell of a deal

also it peeves the hell out of me that it seems like the industry standard is putting 3/40 instead of 40/3

Nothing wrong with this at all. My guess is our other guy is Ohtani or a guy we trade for.

i'm not ruling out Cobb, but i kind of get the feeling there's a stronger market for him that pushes him beyond what the cubs are willing to commit to, so they jumped on Chatwood. And then, yeah, the other rotation spot will be a bigger impact guy.

or if we want to go six man, it's ohtani, cobb, and chatwood

(waits for TT's "WHY DO YOU HATE MONTGOMERY?" re the FO)

Interesting. I actually don't think the other guy is going to be Ohtani or a guy we trade for. I still think it will be Cobb, unless somehow his price has gotten up to $18 to $20 million per.

So you think the Cubs are out on Cobb?
