this is leading to harper signing a 10/150 450 deal with us now

I'm thinking more like a NBA superfriend contract, but with a few player opt-outs after years 2 and 4. 6/150. That gives him FA options after age 28, 30, and 32 seasons, depending on when he's tired of winning WS and wants to then go sign the absurd parachute contract at 10-12 years at bonkers money.

He meant 10 million for 150 years

Also known as the Bobby Bonilla contract.

Sorry if someone already mentioned this, but Rotoworld expects the Marlins to flip Starlin to another team to shed his salary

Bring him home (with Yelich).

Good God, why? Starlin isn't good.

Because he'd presumably be part of a package deal with Yelich since the Marlins are trying to dump salary.

I’d be down for something centered around Javy for Starlin and Yelich. Or some sort of 3-team trade where Javy ends up in Miami, we end up with Yelich and Starlin ends up on a 3rd team.

i don't want to trade baez for yelich

Fair enough. If we got Starlin back I’d do it but if it’s a 3 team deal I probably wouldn’t now that I think of it. I’d send them Almora or Happ and Seal boy with Starlin going to a 3rd team and us getting Yelich. With some other ancillary pieces involved all around and maybe another Marlins contract as well. Maybe something like......

Mets get: Starlin and Ziegler

Cubs get: Yelich and Volquez

Marlins get: Almora/Happ, LaStella, Nimmo and maybe some minor leaguers

That would clear between $30-35 million from the Marlins payroll this year plus Starlin and Yelich long-term on top of it. They get two young, cheap, position players that can play the OF to replace Yelich and Stanton and a 2B to replace Gordon/Starlin and probably would get some minor leaguers too.

I irrationally don't want to move Baez at all. I enjoy it far too much when other team's fans hate both Baez and Contreras for basically everything they do. It's nice to be on the positive end of that after so many years.

Starlin doesn't have negative value. And if the Marlins want to stop a complete boycott of their team, they're not going to attach Yelich, who has a ton of value, with a shitty contract.

They can move the Ziegler, Tozawa, and Volquez contracts by attaching a comp pick or top 10 in their system prospects.
