This may be the least I have ever looked forward to Opening Day. I know I have seen some people say they are sick of talking about last year and ready to move on, but I'm not even close to being there yet. This season is going to feel different for sure, and I honestly don't know yet what impact that will have on how I watch the games. It still seems like the playoffs were a few weeks ago and I don't know how excited I will be able to get about regular season baseball. Is anyone else feeling the same way or am I the only horsefeathers who isn't counting down the minutes until 7:35pm?

This is the only sport I seem to care about anymore, for the most part. I want to do it again.

That's pretty much me. I didn't pay attention at all this offseason. Why would I cue up MLBtraderumors or something when I can just watch the highlights from last playoffs again?

It was like this after the Blackhawks' first for me too. "Oh, they lost. Guess I'll watch the championship DVD instead of the highlights..."

the cubs have so much talent that as long as they avoid injuries to the coolest guys, i'm content with just enjoying the homecoming for the first several weeks (or months). i'm just happy to see the boys back in town. if they get off to a good start, then that's a nice bonus.

You guys sound nuts to me. This may be the most I've ever looked forward to Opening Day. I'm finally rooting for an awesome baseball team minus all the stupid baggage.

I'm looking forward to it for sure (especially since I hate spring training and didn't watch a second of it) but I'll be distracted by the fact that my hockey team is actually relevant in the playoffs

Yeah. For the first time in my life, I'm watching the Cubs open a season as the defending World Series champions. No [expletive] about goats and 100+ years and crap. Which has to really, really annoy the awful human beings who support the Cardinals. Win win.

This is weird not feeling anxiety before a season or despair. The rare seasons they were good heading into the season you wondered how Baker would screw it up and how they had to win despite him. 84', 89' , 98', 01' proved to be one year anomalies that faded as quickly as they arrived. Those flukish years masked terrible baseball.

Now, the Cubs have one of the youngest and productive cores in MLB with the best FO and manager in place.

It's great to watch pressure free baseball.

Last year was more of a relief than anything more about my grandfather, my father, past suffering, etc.

This season is about enjoying the best product we'll ever see in our lives and just that.

The whole season feeling like it just ended a few weeks ago is so true for me. I've never felt like that with Opening Day, but damn, it feels like the season JUST ended. I figure that has more to do with being content and not having to anticipate that the next year might finally be the year.

The Cards fans I know have been pretty quiet this offseason. Just wait and watch how much they gloat if they take 2 of 3 this week.

I'm freakin stoked. It's all gravy from here on out. We can just sit back and enjoy this fantastic team now, with no pressure or angst at all.
