I think this entire thing has been about selling tickets at minor league affiliates and selling merchandise that doesn't get split with the rest of MLB via CBA/40 man roster designation of said player.

 

It's one thing to make up PR reasons to justify a promotion of a gimmick in the minor leagues, but that could be hard for major league reasons.

 

It costs them nothing to put the guy in single-A, there is an actual issue with putting him on the 40-man roster though.

Seems relevant that the 3 OFs with the most PAs for their High A team have OPSes of .691, .664, and .482 Tebow's old team's are .676, .657, and .648(Tebow)

He'll probably crash back down in AA, but for the last couple weeks he's appeared to be an actual minor league baseball player.
