Top 108 Moments for the 2016 Cubs (Now complete!)

This season, I attended the game either before or after 1) Jake Arrieta's no hitter and 2) Kris Bryant's 5-5 game with 3 HR and 2 doubles. Also in the past, I've just missed Kyle Farnsworth destroying Paul Wilson, Starlin Castro's debut, and even the game where the Peoria Chiefs faced the Dayton Dragons, and a huge brawl occurred that lead to the arrest of a Cubs prospect because he threw a ball into the crowd that hit some lady in the head.

 

I'd guess the coolest moment I saw in person was Sosa's first game back from the corked bat suspension, where he hit a home run.

 

Man that's basically like the entire list of interesting Cubs games in Cincinnati. I guess the only 2 other games I can think of are The Shawn Estes Game in 2003 and the day the Cubs clinched the division in 2007 (although it didnt happen until milwaukee lost after the game)

 

Game 162 this season was pretty cool, when the Cubs bench players scored 4 runs in the 9th with 2 outs to end the regular season in style.

I was a nervous wreck watching at home. I think if I had been at any WS games I would have been puking on my shoes

 

 

Not to bring it up again but while watching game 7 at home, I almost puked up my Italian Beef and copious amounts of beer after the Raji Davis HR.

 

My daughter (10 months at the time) horsefeathering vomited all over me in Game 7. Of course we were leading at the time. I mean she horsefeathering soaked me. I had to just jump in the shower with her to clean us both off and I was thinking "is this vomit a bad omen?" Then Davis hit that homer and I was like I have to take this baby back to the store or wherever my wife bought her

 

 

My son who was 8 months at the time to this day always wakes up between 11-12 screaming for about 10 minutes until one of us comforts him, with one day of his life the exception November 2, 2016. He decided to sleep without waking until 3am, luckily I was still awake watching post game coverage.

it's unbelievable how many of those playoff moments i had forgotten about. what a horsefeathering great thread.

for whatever reason the davis homer never got to me much. I think it was because the game was still tied, I was happy with the pennant and even being in that situation down 3-1 and because I had a lot of faith in that team.

 

That run was so damn magical I am still trying to fathom how regular season baseball will feel and if we do it again this year....will it feel close to the same

I definitely slumped in my seat after Davis hit the homer, but felt pretty good after we got out of it still tied (until the bottom of the 9th, when Joe sent Chapman back out and it turned into a roller coaster ride).

 

I would say, and I'm sure others here felt the same, that I felt really good about things coming out of the rain delay.

 

I was also hammered, shear willpower kept me concious during the rain delay. I kept telling myself "they win and you won't forgive yourself"

I had been having a few beers during game 7 and watching with some family, but when davis hit his homer I left them and went to watch by myself.

 

Well, myself and a half handle of vodka that I made disappear between the bottom of the 8th and the rain delay.

 

It was fun running around my neighborhood with a bottle of champagne after they won though. I had stocked one away at the beginning of the playoffs.

I remember being nervous as hell for the ninth. Told my wife and texted a couple friends that if the Cubs got it to the 10th, they'd win because they had the top of the order up and Miller and Allen were out of the game. They just had to get through the top of Cleveland's order in the ninth.

 

Obviously I was still nervous for the 10th but I felt a hell of a lot better knowing it was Schwarber-KB-Rizzo coming up to hit.

Why on the list? - The Cubs came into game 6 with an opportunity to do something they hadn't done for 71 years, to win the pennant. They had this opportunity a couple times before, one time in particular that the announcers couldn't stop talking about. The crowd was excited but nervous because of the history, and because the best pitcher in the game was on the other side. However, the Cubs jumped on Kershaw right away in the first, with 4 well hit balls to the outfield for the first four hitters. Fowler hit one that Reddick had a good view of from 15 feet away, Bryant hit one in about the same spot but harder, Rizzo followed the old adage "hit it where they are", and it worked out like it had for most of the series, as Toles dropped it for a 2-base error, and then Zobrist tried the same but they caught it. By the end of it, though, the Cubs had scored 2 runs and the crowd was rocking from there for the rest of the night.

Game 6 was more fun than all of the world series games combined

The flyball adventure didn't even stop there, since Baez was up next and he popped it up in the infield and Adrian Gonzalez had to run in at the last minute to take charge and catch it.

 

Also, it didn't make the list, but the Cubs' 3rd run was scored on a Fowler single that he got run down between first and second because he was sure the Dodgers defense was going to screw up again.

Damn the crowd was deafening when they saw that liner off of Bryant's bat was going to drop to get the first run in. Everyone knew how important it was to get off to a good start against Kershaw and they were pumped.

I was there, the collective crowd literally believed we had the power to break Kershaw in this game. I don't know how much of it got picked up by the TV feed, but from the opening hit every time the Cubs were batting the crowd was yelling "KER-SHAW" constantly and cheering for hits.

Davis got caught flat footed and let Bryant tag up from about 120 feet away, Chisenhall and Naquin let that ball drop between them, I'm probably forgetting others.

Had to look up the exact play but I remebered Davis broke in on a Contreras double at one point. It was with 2 outs in the 4th in Game 7 and it drove in the third Cubs run. Ball hit a couple feet up the wall but Davis's first couple steps were in. Would have been a decent catch but if he goes back immediately, he probably gets there.
