It's just now sinking in. I've been a wreck all morning. Not crying, but tears welling up when I think about something related to my childhood and the Cubs. I thought about Santo this morning and started tearing up. Then I thought about Ernie, then my dad (still living), and on and on.

It's just now sinking in.

Joe Maddon is the luckiest man alive today. If they would have lost he'd never be forgiven. What a horsefeathers up. I can't believe he would manage these games so differently than the rest of the season, when all he does is preach about not letting the moment take you out of your game.

you're supposed to manage world series games differently than you do all season

Agreed. I am so happy this team won, and so happy that Maddon is the manager.

But he would've been second guessed forever about his bullpen management. It was easy to second guess him using Chapman game 6. And I didn't feel good about it. But I trusted that Joe somehow knew that Chapman would be OK game 7. But he was clearly gassed.

And bringing him out for the 9th inning yesterday. I absolutely couldn't believe it. Probably the first time all year I thought Maddon was being an idiot and making a huge mistake. Sometimes I disagree, but always trust him. He's earned it. But damn. That was bad. Even after seeing Chapman was struggling in inning 8, he brought him out again. Chapman without his 100mph fastball is an average pitcher. He had nothing. Couldn't throw strikes. He was VERY lucky to get out of the 9th.

I am so relieved about this win. Because after the years of pain as a Cub fan, this would've been a horrible way to lose. To come back from 3-1 down against a team decimated with injuries. Take a 4 run lead. Then blow it on an error, wild pitch, overuse of a closer who allowed a home run to a slap hitter. I don't think I would've recovered for a while. There's alway next year, and this team is damn good and young. But there are no guarantees. To win this, the Cubs had to stage a miracle comeback in game 4 of the NLDS, come back from 2-1 in the NLCS, go into extended team-wide hitting droughts, and come back from 3-1 down. And they were the best team in baseball. Playoffs are a crapshoot. What a relief. They horsefeathering won. :yahoo:

Long time lurker... actually a Cardinals fan from a message board that once, ahem, invaded here. I didn't post or partake, but ever since I've frequented this site because I enjoy statistical analysis, reading other people's opinions and, I'll admit, watching Cubs fans suffer. Now it's time to bite the bullet because suffer no more. It was obvious last year that the little Bears were going to be giant pains in the ass for the next six or seven years and you've already reached the summit 12 months later.

Congratulations. Enjoy. And I'm so sorry that Fred wasn't here to enjoy it with you all.

I'm not sure what it says about my social circle, but I was the happiest to win for the people on NSBB. As it's been discussed over the years, talking to non-NSBB about the Cubs can be unbearable. This is the place where tried and true Cub fans are and I couldn't be happier to share that with the people who have made me a better cub fan over the past 13 years. Congrats, guys.

My daughter came over until 9 for the game before she had to go to bed, then woke me up at 6:30 asking if they won. Got to say "yes". I can barely believe it. Got to say "Yes"

Just an incredible game. Emotional rollercoaster. I'm actually mad at myself that I thought it was over when Cleveland tied it at 6 because I shouldn't have doubted this team. Cubs teams in the past would have lost this game. But, they proved time after time to never doubt them.

I think this post belongs in the "The Cubs lost the World Series" thread that doesnt and never will exist.

I think I cried hysterically for about 10 minutes. I'm not even kidding. I told my 2.5 month old son he never has to hear a horsefeathering word about a goat, the years 1908 or 1945, 'lovable losers', any of that crap. All he knows is a world in which the Cubs are the best team in the world.

We won because of our dongs, our defense, our youth, our MOTHER horsefeathering AMAZING BASERUNNING (KB and Almora, oh my god), and our pitching, but more than anything we won because of our balls. Game 4 of the LDS, Game 1 of the LCS and Games 5 and 7 of this series are games the Cubs have historically found ways to lose, and instead Jason Heyward calls a rain delay meeting (worth every penny of his $184 million just for that one meeting) and the kids get their horsefeathers together and win the game. Kyle Schwarber OBP's over .500 on a freaking reconstructed knee. Javy and Contreras save their biggest swings for the biggest night. Sexy Dexy, you go, we go.

I'm so happy for myself and I'm so happy for all of you. I woke up today in a world in which the Cubs are indisputably the best team in the world. I get to buy shirts, hats, hoodies and Blu-Ray sets that say Cubs World Series Champions all over them. I'm so happy.

Don't know about you guys, but I have gotten absolutely no work done today. I fill up my browser with tabs of articles, and then i read them, and then i remember to go to another side, and then open up 6-7 articles from that site.

This is just the best.

It belongs in the "Cubs are trying to repeat" thread that will start next fall. Maddon's management of the game is certainly open to criticism but not the day after they just won the horsefeathering world series.

I'm in response-only mode. If someone calls on me for help or something, I'll respond. But initiate? Impossible.

It sucks because calling in sick would be too obvious and I'm out of vacay. But who the heck cares? It's 5 o'clock somewhere.

The 2 hours of sleep aren't helping me either, I am still just giddy when I see some new article, picture or video.
