These predictions were terrible. Dex waited until the 4th pitch, and Javy's was the only of the 3 Cubs HRs that did NOT match that description.

Do better next time.

I demand a team full of catchers next season. Catchers are the greatest.

And Shortstops.

Why can't they make the whole team out of catchers and shortstops?

Could be done.

LF- Schwarber (former, maybe future C)

CF- Bryant (1 inning at SS this year)

RF- Coghlan (emergency catcher/IF, this is a stretch)

3B- Baez (obviously)

SS- Russell (obviously)

2B- Zobrist (2 innings at SS this year, that I don't remember)

1B- Contreras (obviously)

C- Montero (obviously)

I've heard talk from a lot of people about inviting Steve Bartman to the parade, throw out the first pitch next year, etc... Everything I've ever read about the poor guy is that he just wants to be left alone. He's declined every interview or appearance since 2003. He has an attorney friend who handles all his calls, which the attorny does free of charge, and the attorney tells people the same thing over and over, that Steve doesn't want to come out publicly. I mean put yourself in his shoes, wouldn't you want the same? Bartman's life was severely altered in 2003. The whole thing is motifying and he's probably had many sleepless nights because of it. He doesn't want to be paraded around like some rescue puppy from the humane shelter and patted on the head and told everything is forgiven. He just wants to live his life and be left alone. I'm sure he's as thrilled as all of us the Cubs won the World Series and hopefully he gains a little peace of mind because of it.

Sounds like a nice regular guy. Alou owes him a beer or seventeen.

For every other game of the playoffs, there has been a full version of the game on YouTube. Today there still is not, which I'm assuming is because the MLB is blocking any uploads in order to sell digital copies of the game.

Got to work around 12:00....started this thread around page 15. Between clicking on all the external links, watching all the videos, reading the articles, ordering the bobbleheads, I'm finally here. Incredible, unforgettable couple days/months/years.

Look at that, 5:15, time to go home.

I wish that is what he said but I'm pretty sure its "Why didn't he horsefeathering send him?"

Huh, I can see both...but I think you're right. Makes more sense in the situation.

i thought he said "we're winning this horsefeathering game" myself

Cubs have officially cut ties with the Fake Rally, in favor of the newly-unveiled fake collapse.

"We all know how this one ends. We've seen it a hundred times. Why do they toy with our emotions like this? Can't they just cut to the chase and get on with the inevitable already?"

The MLB.TV full game video is stuck on the spinner too

Also after reading that Fangraphs article about Chapmans 9th it's absolutely amazing that he got out of that inning unscathed. The dude was throwing hanging sliders on nearly every pitch and the Indians somehow were not able to square one up.

I mean one of those is squared up and were in a completely different mood today

I don't think Cameron was really wrong with that one(unlike several of his other pieces this postseason), but I did feel like it maybe missed the alternate explanation, that even a tired Chapman was hitting 98-99 with every fastball and hitters have to respect it. That's still velocity that nearly no one else gets to with regularity, and a 10+ mph gap from his slider. Even though he threw slider after slider in that inning, he had thrown 90% fastballs as a Cub. Hitters have to gear up to catch up to 98-99, making it all the harder to square up a breaking pitch, even if they caught more of the plate than Chapman wanted.

Time almost froze on that Kipnis foul ball. There was a split second (that felt like an eternity) where I was convinced it was going to stay fair and land in the seats. I don't want to imagine a world where that feeling lasted any longer than that one instant.

Whatever happens tonight, I hope Joe is looking for a new job next season. I don't want to see him in Cubs uniform anymore.

is it ok if he goes through the world series parade before he gets fired?

Holy horsefeathers is that post real?

I was nearly blind with rage when Joe's head-scratching moves (pulling Hendricks for Lester with the runner on, and misusing Chapman) combined to obliterate the five run lead. Seriously, I was feeling sick to my stomach every time they showed him in the dugout after that, I really hated the thought of him as the Cubs manager next season.

The players picked him up, though. I love the way this team was resilient in the face of adversity that would have destroyed so many Cubs teams from the past.

Just when I think that maybe I had embraced full meatballdom last night when things were at their most bleak, I read that and realize I had a lonnnnnnnnnnnng way to go.

I guess I'll stick to threatening violence against umps and players, then. That seems to play a lot better.

To be fair, if Kipnis had donged in the 9th, things would have gotten very ugly for Joe. I highly doubt there would be serious consideration towards firing him, but man...I don't even want to think about it.

The one positive about Maddon is how much better he made me feel about Tito. What a poorly managed game all around. Kluber obviously didn't have it from the start. The homerun and loud outs should have been a huge indicator that Kluber didn't have it. Then, when he was completely losing it in the 4th and no one was warming up, I was in full panic mode. I have no idea how or why he brought him out to start the 5th, and the homerun he gave up only pissed me off more.

Of course then you guys ended up scoring off of Miller and Shaw (although I didn't think Shaw was awful) so it probably didn't matter anyway. I'm just not sure how this is the same manager that yanked Tomlin after 4.2 2 hit, 1 walk innings in game 3. How do you manage safer in game 3 than game 7? I know that our options were limited, but it was pretty clear that Corey didn't have it from the get go. Luckily Maddon decided to over manage to the same fault that Tito under managed, and it was almost enough. Almost.

at least you didn't ramp up the drinking in preemptive celebration and then ramp it up even more in disgust and black out most of the end like me

makes me no less happy though

The series definitely wasn't a masterclass in managing on either side, that's for sure. Fortunately for us, the end result obscures all of that.

As for you guys, I think the toll of being down two SP finally caught up. You won the first two series quickly, but that it went seven games probably just proved too much. Seeing Kluber for the third time in just over a week was definitely a factor, as was the workload your bullpen took on.

Probably nothing profound was said but I would love to see the weight room ,rain delay meeting. I bet it was like a scene from a cheesy sports movie and that's awesome.

Hahaha Fat Lance is butthurt 13 years later

Lance Berkman: No one was sorrier to see the Indians lose to the Cubs than the former Astros slugger. Appearing on an iHeart radio show Thursday morning, Berkman talked about several bad memories tied to the Cubs, including in June 2003 when fans sitting in Wrigley Field's left-field bleachers tossed Twinkies at him as they mocked his physique.

"Yes, I wanted the Indians to win. I hate the Cubs. In fact, I don't know if you remember this but I volunteered to push the button if they ever wanted to blow up Wrigley Field," Berkman said.
