There's no valid reason to direct any vitriol at a player simply for underperformance. Especially a hard working, A+ personality like Jason Heyward.

It's preposterously childish, meatball behavior.

Almost as meatbally as saying that a hard-working, A+ personality player should be exempt from all performance-related criticisms.

No but seriously, all I [expletive] wanted to know was why he's treated differently than the other two. You guys seemingly equated me saying that he should be held accountable with the idea that I hate this player on and off the field. Way to take one thing I said and blow it completely out of proportion.

I tried to say my peace and move on, but it wasn't allowed. Reading comprehension, folks.

You literally used the words "no reason to escape vitriol". Maybe you you should know what a word means before criticizing others reading comprehension.

Vitriol - speech, writing, etc, displaying rancour, vituperation, or bitterness.

Not reasonable accountability or criticism, etc.

No reason to escape the vitriol that Cutler and Soriano faced, is what I said. Why are they different? FWIW, I think neither Soriano nor Cutler deserved the level of criticism they received. But WHY did they get it and Heyward seemingly gets a pass? If it's because of the World Series, then I can live with that reason.

Anyway, this is my last reply on the subject. There's kind of an important game tonight.

CSN showed him in the cage but it didn't follow the travel of the ball. After he was done hitting he did give the pitcher a thumbs up.

Just hit the bar after work and got my first Andygator and Jameson shot. I've been calm all day but seriously got chills when I saw the Cubs scoreboard lineup. It's real now. Let's do this!

I really think Ross at catcher vs the Indians running game is huge. And Javy, of course.

Been lurking here since 2006. This board has provided me with some nice entertainment for a long time. I've always wanted to participate but just never got around to it. Well, what perfect thread to make my 1st ever post on NSBB than a Cubs WORLD SERIES thread!!! I'm nervous, I'm excited and I can't wait to see the boys take the field in the World Series! Go Cubs!

its totally bizarre seeing smart baseball people like Joe Sheehan and Dave Cameron shout themselves apoplectic over the Schwarber-Coghlan-Heyward moves.

like at the end of the day, its just isn't that big of a deal, and they're acting like these are huge risks the Cubs are taking. Ok.

40-1 odds that he hits the first homer in the series. Tempted to put some money down on that.

Those odds seem ridiculously high. Prop bets are usually sucker bets because odds are rarely good. That almost seems like a mistake. I would've guessed 10-1 tops. Doubt you can still bet those odds.

On ESPN 1000, Tom Waddle just made a $100 bet on that prop.

Just put $50 on it.

I never gamble on sports outside of a ncaa bracket, superbowl squares or fantasy football, but I really want to put money on this.

For as smart or "enlightened" as these guys are. I'd especially include Law in this, they seem to really dig in on their stances on stupid things that aren't as obvious or "smart" as they make it out to be.
