Random look at WC race and potential pitchers in case of ties

Pitchers I care about frequency of facing: Syndergaard

 

Syndergaard is currently lined up to pitch the last Friday of the season. If this holds, this would have him in line to pitch the WC game on 5 days rest, and Game 3 of the NLDS. Would likely be unavailable in any tiebreakers except possibly in relief, but I doubt they would pitch him more than an inning on a side session day so that they don't risk him not being available for the WC game.

 

Chances of 2 starts in the NLDS: low

 

Giants

Pitchers I care about facing: Bumgarner, Cueto

 

Bumgarner is currently scheduled to pitch the last Thursday of the season against Colorado. He could be available to pitch on 3 days rest in a tiebreaker game on Monday, 4 days rest in the event of a 3 way tie necessitating a game on Tuesday, or 5 days rest in the WC game. If they use Bumgarner on short rest in a Monday tiebreaker, he will be available to pitch on regular rest for NLDS Game 2 and then regular rest for NLDS Game 5. If they use him in a Tuesday game, he can pitch on short rest for NLDS Game 2 or 5 days rest for NLDS game 5.

 

Chances of 2 starts in the NLDS: decent if there is a tiebreaker game needed

 

Cueto is in the same situation as Syndergaard, pitching the Friday before the regular season ends.
