Good lord.

The Anti-Schwarber Hate is getting stronger and stronger and they're all gonna look really silly next year

I don't want this dick bag. Can't we just send them everyone for Miller instead so I don't have to hate myself every time I want Chapman to do well?

Yup, it's gonna be great to see the tweets next year along the lines of "I was for trading Schwarber last year, but I didn't know he was THIS good."

That's a lot to give up for a rental of a reliever. But those are probably the most expendable "solid" pieces that the Cubs have.

Torres, decent talent, not elite talent, but very good production. May not be able to stay at SS, which is fine considering he'd never play there with the Cubs.

McKinney, decent talent, again not elite. Good production, is down this year. Inability to play CF. Heyward and Schwarber on the corners.

Warren, decent talent, good production, also down this year. Passed by Matusz as the 6th starter, Cahill also getting stretched out, potential for a trade for a controllable starter with options puts him as possibly the 9th option to start, way down on the RP depth chart.

It's too much, but not crippling by any means. What this means for the pursuit of a SP and/or OF scares me though. This may be the team the Cubs go into the postseason with for the most part.

no, Heyman is reporting it's done. MLB Network reporting that anyway

Yep, except Nightengale says its 4-1. Heyman's tweet says 4-1 and the SB Nation article citing Heyman says 3-1.

Heyman's tweet says 3 identified guys and likely 1 more unidentified guy.

No it doesn't.

Heyman's tweet names 3 players and says "1 more likely".

I wonder if there would have been a fourth player involved had Chapman signed an extension. Cubs might have told Yankees no extension = no fourth player.

Maybe a fourth player is involved if the Cubs sign Chapman to an extension before he hits free agency?

I still can't get over how much the supposedly objective nerdy stat guys just outright are consumed by emotions to drive them to really bad conclusions about the Cubs.

Insecure Nerd Guys are just as bad as Insecure Meatball Guys

unlike tree, i hope we don't extend him. let him pitch, let us win our WS, and then then him walk.

I really wish we hadn't traded for him. I thought I might have some excitement if it happened, but i have no excitement about this at all.

We're just gonna flip Chapman for Mike Trout right?

Chris Sale

torn up jersey sold separately.

Putting aside the deplorable person Chapman seems to be, who the hell cares about giving up some A-ball prospect and 3 nothings for the best reliever in the game?

just 2 years ago Addison Russell, Kyle Schwarber, Albert Almora, Willson Contreras were all "A-ball" prospects and are each rightly basically untouchable now...so if you scout him as an impact player (as Keith Law seems to) then it's a ton to give up for a rental, but i'm personally a little lower on him than that

Rashad Crawford the 4th piece

it's so weird to me hwo a guy like this ends up in a trade at all (like, "we'll only do this trade if you throw in 23 year old mediocre A baller RASHAD CRAWFORD), but then i guess i probably would've thought the same about josh donaldson 8 years ago.

I'm guessing when guys like him are in deals it's because when he was available through the draft or IFA they had a scout that really liked him (relatively speaking) and when they saw he hasn't done much wanted to get him.

One thing that is being overlooked here is Chapman's ability to defuse a domestic dispute without hitting his girl. If you just shoot your gun off a bunch of times and scare the horsefeathers out of her, there will be no need for violence.

I mean, at least Donaldson was like a first round pick. Although maybe Crawford was, too. I don't even know who he is.
