Probable an upgrade for the Cardinals.

I wouldn’t be surprised if he has “injuries” like this all year because they know he’s done and don’t want him embarrassed. Also if their bullpen/closer sucks I could see him trying to come back/be shifted to the closer role.

I could see the redbirds shifting Alex Reyes to the closer role down the stretch. Not sure about making Wainwright the closer. He doesn't have good enough stuff for that role.

I am secretly hoping injuries will destroy their SR depth and allow for a reunion with John Lackey lol.

Good thing they didn't overplay their hand with Wainwright against the Brewers.

They have - thus far - been adamant that they won't use Reyes as a 1-inning closer and want him to be a multi-inning reliever who can build up to starting in the second half.

Luke Gregerson is starting the season on the DL with a hamstring injury and he had already missed time this spring with an oblique injury. Wainwright is gonna end up getting a shot at closer I feel like.

Athletics top pitching prospect A.J. Puk will undergo Tommy John reconstructive elbow surgery.

Puk was shut down last week in A's camp with what was originally termed as biceps soreness, and he consulted Dr. James Andrews this week after the discomfort found its way to his elbow. This is a real shame, as Puk showed tremendous stuff this spring and was in line to make his MLB debut in the first half of the 2018 season. He could be sidelined until the second half of the 2019 campaign.

Damn it. The Puk news sucks as much as the Honeywell TJS did.

Indeed. I feel the same way. This sucks. He's a fun prospect to watch.

I was hoping the Cubs might trade for this guy down the road because we all know the A's never keep any of their good starting pitchers.

If Joe Dirt were based on a real character.
