I wonder if this makes them go harder for Darvish.

They have the division wrapped up, but if Kershaw is dead and they don't know how healthy he'll be for October then they should probably make Darvish happen.

I don't think it changes their degree of pursuit in Darvish or another pitcher of his caliber. He's basically had the same injury 2 times prior and he's been able to come back without much difficulty, so I'm guessing the Dodgers aren't too worried about the injury lingering into October.

The same injury over and over is chronic and I bet it gets harder to predict healing. I hope they don't go after Darvish personally.

Strasburg and his "tight forearm," whom the Nats have $100+ million committed to and a has history of injuries won't be evaluated any further or have an MRI and will make his next start. Seems smart.

I never wish for injury, but if its the result of your own/your organization's stupidity and it makes our playoff run easier...well, I dont have to root for him to NOT get injured doing this.

If only there was a team in their own division with a young hardthrowing pitcher who skipped an MRI and ended up with a severe injury (possibly worsened by pitching after the initial injury).

Strasburg to the 10-day DL, Dusty says he'll only miss one start. So if he comes back after missing only one start I'm sure Dusty is gonna ride him extra hard, since he's really healed up and rested or some horsefeathers.

Officially a right elbow nerve impingement. Erick Fedde is coming up to start for Washington.

Sore neck from sleeping funny, apparently. Of course Dusty sent him out when they have a billion game lead and could've easily pushed him back 1-3 days.

Uh oh. Alex Wood, the former 90 mph soft-tosser that started throwing 94 and pitching better than Clayton Kershaw is no longer throwing 94 and pitching better than Clayton Kershaw.

Last five games average velocity on sinker: 92.8, 92.2, 91.8, 91.4, and then 90.2 tonight. He gave up 13 runs over his previous two starts. And tonight he only struck out 2 guys and got only 5 swinging strikes.

No, not the Alex Wood who has had two elbow surgeries in the last eight years!

Baseball Savant must have updated their Statcast numbers. They have his sinker at 90.8 now. Brooks Baseball has it at 91.7.

Still, that's a lot lower than he was early in the year. And he hasn't been very good since he's been 91-92.

Hard to imagine him holding up all the way through October with his lack of innings lately.
