Please. Strasburg getting hurt is just another event on the summer calendar, like the 4th of July. Even before Dusty showed up.

I know I've said it before but with the injury he has/had he needs to have a surgery to really fix it. He can pitch through it and manage it but the fix requires a surgery. My friend in the NBA had the same injury 2 years ago and dealt/deals with the same doctors Kershaw has and they said there's no way to 100% fix the injury without a surgery. Edited by Cubswin11

I remember you talking about this last year, but don't remember the details. But how is he able to still pitch like Clayton Kershaw despite this? Is it just something that flares up and then goes away every once in a while?

Yeah it can be managed from what he says but will flare up/no guarantees to know how long it can be managed for. This is all 2nd/3rd hand but my buddy said he had no choice to have the surgery because of the different physical requirements of the NBA vs pitching. The management that Kershaw does just wouldn't hold up playing basketball but it can for a pitcher/MLB player but will have flare ups like he had today with no real way of knowing when they will flare up, how serious or how much time to recover, etc.

and who's your nba friend?

Sam Dekker, he had the surgery sometime in 2015 or 2016 when he was on the Rockets.

i'm sorry you were supposed to say lebron

He played at Wisconsin, no?

Yeah, was on the Final 4 teams. Was the Rockets first round pick in 14 or 15 and he was just traded to the Clippers in the Chris Paul trade. He should get some good minutes this year and be one of the first guys off the bench for the Clippers and get some starts here and there.

Dusty said something along the lines of "we think he's fine." So I'm sure he'll have Strasburg pitch 100+ pitches and/or leave him in for like a 30-40 pitch inning in his next start.

I wonder if this makes them go harder for Darvish.

They have the division wrapped up, but if Kershaw is dead and they don't know how healthy he'll be for October then they should probably make Darvish happen.

I don't think it changes their degree of pursuit in Darvish or another pitcher of his caliber. He's basically had the same injury 2 times prior and he's been able to come back without much difficulty, so I'm guessing the Dodgers aren't too worried about the injury lingering into October.
