Coomer is fine talking about baseball, just not describing it. That said, Pat could do better with someone who could talk even better about baseball. A lot of times this year, Pat has sounded like he's going through the motions, which with this team, is hard to believe.

He was that way a lot last year too, which is crazy when you think he's only 61. He's been taking innings off at a time for years now

My only ask is that if they start this game, they are certain they can get 2+ straight hours in. I really don't want to see Jake throw 2 innings and have to leave because of a rain delay.

I am more disappointed by rain ruining my daily trip to the dog park than delaying Cubs games.

Remember when John Kruk predicted 30 wins for Randy Johnson and the Yankees?

he got 34

over a span of 2 years.

and one of the years, it was 17 wins on a 5.00 ERA (90 ERA+)

Alex Wood has triceps tightness and likely to miss his next start. Maeda has swelling in his throwing hand and is now at risk for missing Thursday's start.

I understand that the chances are great that Kershaw would own us but I also would like to be the team to knock him out in the 1st or 2nd inning, even if he would be throwing on short rest. So, bring him on

Yeah but I don't think there's any reason why they would feel compelled to start Kershaw on short rest. Likely if Maeda doesn't start they call up Urias to start.

Maybe I'm getting cocky, but if we're going for the 4-game sweep it would be kind of awesome to get a chance to knock around Kershaw. Would probably be sticking the chests out pretty far if we 4-game swept the Nationals and Dodgers and had a 5-1 record against Pittsburgh and 4-2 against St. Louis and the biggest division lead in baseball. Would be a cherry on top to do it against Kershaw.

Looks like we'll be facing Urias on Thursday.

Would one of their pitcher's have to be put on the DL for him to come back up before like 10 days? I forget the rules or if there even is one.

Somebody would have to be put on the DL if it is within 10 days. Doesn't matter if it is a pitcher or not.

I would guess it could also be the concussion list, bereavement list, etc.
