I was thinking today about how far down the organization do you have to go before you find a weak link and I think you have to get all the way down to the radio color commentator.*

*And I actually like Coomer, but he's just not very good at radio especially the PBP in the 5th.

So you like him, just not on the radio. What else is there? That one season he played for the Cubs?

you can like people who suck at things and dislike people who are good

he sucks at his job but he generally comes off as likeable in a goofy bumpkin kinda way.

For me personally, his performance on the radio greatly dominates my impression of him because I do know know him in any other capacity. Any goofy bumpkin kind of vibe he gives off is overshadowed by being embarrassingly bad at talking on the radio.

I like Coomer as a color commentator. When he is given PBP in the 5th and stumbles through describing anything on the field I want to die.

"There's a hit...........................................................................................and it's caught."

Isn't that pretty much Santo?

Maybe he is likable around the office but my only interaction with him is how he performs at his job and he is absolutely terrible at it so he sucks.

I don't disagree that he sucks, but that doesn't mean a person can't like him (I certainly don't...but I understand why people would). You still get an idea of how he is as a person and his personality since his job is literally to be a person talking about stuff. It appears some people like his personality.

John Lackey is very good at pitching and is still hated because he's a jerk. Starlin Castro sucks and is beloved by many here (granted, he was at least good at one time).

Ron Coomer's PBP problem is that he takes wayyy too long to describe what happened, especially if runners are on base and the ball is hit in the infield.

And that he doesn't actually describe what happened.

If my only interaction with Lackey was hearing somebody credible describe how he pitches for the Cubs I'd probably like him. But I can see him, and how he acts and reacts to others and what he says when he's not pitching. Therefore I know he's a dick.

I can only hear Coomer when he speaks and he cannot speak therefore he sucks.

In addition to missing Kershaw in this series, the Cubs will miss Greinke (and of course Shelby Miller but that's probably a bad thing) in this weekend's series against AZ.

But hey you want to talk about luck, the Phillies play the Cubs 6 times in 2 weeks and none of them will be started by Jake.

That is not a sleeve. It's debatable as to whether or not it could be considered a half-sleeve.

And Ron Coomer's best trait is that his first name is Ron, so we still get to have Pat & Ron.

i don't care at all about w-l...let me just say that first.

but when i looked at his espn page, i happened to see jake is "on pace" to go 30-0...lmao

even if he could get to 25 wins with 0 losses, that would be the most bad ass thing ever, and i almost believe it's possible with this lineup behind that guy.

When did 5 man rotations become commonplace?

Just a guess but probably late 80's?

i looked into it and apparently some teams (namely the dodgers) started dabbling in the early 70s, and by the early 80s it was almost universally adopted.
