Remember when there were a bunch of ninnies on here that were afraid to face the Mets in the playoffs again?

Harvey's broke. His velocity is way down and he is getting teed off on. DeGrom's velocity is down even more -- some 2 mph on everything he throws. He's not even striking out 6 per 9 innings. Matz is missing starts with elbow soreness. That's not even mentioning their pedestrian, oft-injured, and old lineup. Once again: [expletive] pitchers!

As if our dongsmiths should have been scared in the first place...

Not that his stuff or results have reflected it or lead you to think anything is wrong but Syndergaard went in for a MRI like a week ago. IDK if it's a routine thing or if he felt he needed to get something checked, but still. Even when they are going great pitchers still suck.

Yep. We don't have to worry about stupid MRIs or freak out when our precious babies wince after throwing a pitch. We just stick them in the lineup and let them play. And even when they do go down -- Schwarber -- we just let them heal and come back next year to unleash hell fire on the rest of the league. Look at what they've had to deal with from Harvey since he came back. I just want no part in that. If some rando like Cease turns into Matt Harvey, then great. But, I'm not staking down our future with any pitcher.

And the funny thing is that our starters, for the second straight year have had better ERAs, FIPs and xFIPs.

Ha, yup. Living in Wisconsin most of my friends who follow baseball are Brewers fans and all they want in the rebuild is to acquire pitching in trades and in the draft, "because you win with pitching" and other similar nonsense saying. I tell them anytime it comes up that, that's a very risky way to try and build a team, especially with where they are at in the rebuild and the resources they have (or don't have) and they have an even smaller margin of error for hitting on players they develop/draft/acquire than the Cubs did so wanting them to build this next team around pitching carries a lot of risk and trying to constantly draft or trade for pitching could leave them rebuilding for a long time.

Kershaw only had a 7:1 strikeout to walk ratio tonight in his CG shutout.

He's ridiculous. 95/5 K/BB. He's thrown 79 innings in 10 starts. He's went at least 8 innings more times than not. And he's still only went over 110 pitches twice. His FIP and xFIP went up tonight. Tough luck.

To anybody with insomnia and the MLB Network, at 9:15 this evening, it will be former Cubs top prospect vs. former Cubs top prospect when Jeff Samrdzjia and the Giants take on Andrew Cashner and the Padres.

The guy who got us Russell and the guy who got us Rizzo. That could be fun.

But not as much fun as having Russell and Rizzo through 2021 on this team. :D

gerrit cole at it again, giving up 6 hits but only 1 run through 3 innings. I'm not watching but that annoys me.

Pirates are starting to get annoying. 9-2 in their last 11 if they win today, and cut our 9 game lead in half in 11 days
