the one and only hope is theo magic...and i mean some under the table tampering horsefeathers like he did with maddon and soler.

Well yeah, Theo is cutthroat. They'll have third, fourth, fifth parties, speaking to him, paying him in bitcoins, whatever it horsefeathering takes, to get his extension happening immediately.

We're all going to feel awful when we find out Theo has been using Lurie Children's Hospital via Rizzo as a front for smuggling money to Otani.

Using the same trick that Jack Donaghy's dirtbag brother used to steal/launder money is a bold move but I ain't mad about it

Even if the Yankees or Rangers, who have the *most* money to offer Ohtani get him, they're going to do some under the table stuff.

MLB basically guaranteed under the table stuff with the new CBA.

Can you please post a photo of it so that we may opine on whether you should find it fashionable?

At least someone thinks we have a shot:

Dan: Because I know you know, where is Ohtani going to throwing baseballs and maybe hitting baseballs in April?

Jeff Sullivan: Guesses that mean nothing: 1. Cubs, 2. Dodgers, 3. Mariners

How fast/slow will this process go?

Once he's officially posted, there's a set time for teams to decide to bid up to $20 mil, I don't remember how long that is(maybe a week?). Once that's done and Otani can negotiate, I think it'll happen relatively quickly. He can't play teams against each other for more money, so he'll probably get a pitch from everyone and make his pick.

i wonder if any team won't offer up the posting fee and make the pitch

I'm sure his agent will make sure to tell all but 5-10 teams not to bother.

I agree that it is kind of messed up his posting team (Ham Fighters) will get a nice $20 million while the most he can get is roughly $3.5 million this offseason.

Of course, the reason why he can't make what he is truly worth is because the Player's Union fucked up negotiations for international players and allowed these new stupid rules to go into effect during the last CBA negotiations. Why does a player have to wait till they're 25 to become a FA if they've played professionally overseas? You'd think teams would want the player to come over as soon as possible, like in S. Ohtani's case.

He's definitely joining MLB next season, but the Player's Union (and MLB ownership) really screwed him over.

It’s just the Fighters. Nippon-Ham is the company that sponsors/owns them.

False. Not because you're wrong, but because I insist that you should be.
