So Kang returned tonight and has 2 homers vs the Pirates.

That's pretty [expletive] of him after Pittsburgh was so supportive during his injury.

Haha, they never expected it!

After reading the Mets Refugee boards to see what they are saying about us, I can't want to knock their cocky asses out of the playoffs this year.

They seem to think because they beat us in a playoff series last year they are guaranteed to destroy us this year.

Yeah I saw this comment earlier describing the matchup between the Nationals and Cubs:

Assholes who badly lost the division to us vs. Assholes who lost the most one sided LCS in history to us

I also wouldn't be surprised at all if that banned poster in the game thread was a mets troll from that website. Clearly it was just a guy trying to get a rise out of people here, but I seem to remember last year in the playoffs that gay slurs occurred in just about every other post on that website.

Yeah the thing is I'm fine if they feel relatively confident given how they did last year but they are acting like we don't even need to play the season out because the playoffs will play out exactly the same as last year. I hope their players have the same mentality because they will get what's coming to them.

The dirty secret they won't admit is that the Cubs were better than the Mets last year. They were just fortunate to play their best four games of the year that series.

The end of the game for the red sox vs. yankees is the absolute perfect example of the need for robot umps. The ump made a terrible call the batter before Ortiz, then doubled down on an even worse call on that 3-1 pitch. Okay, you make one bad call, whatever... two bad calls... in that situation, maybe you were fooled... but that last call, was just absurdly stupid, and entirely the Ump getting caught up in the moment and not wanting to get shown up.

The whole tossing guys out of the game for arguing balls and strikes when they aren't arguing or they are angry in the dugout is also just horribly wrong. Lester getting thrown out yesterday was absurd as well. If a guy gets in your face, toss them... but you can't toss them for asking questions or grumbling in the dugout.

Sure, the umps do ok 95% of the time... maybe even more... but something has to change when they are letting their emotions decide games.

Yep. And it might happen this year. Worrying about what other fans think and hoping for the playoff coin flips to vindicate you is a dangerous game.

Cardinals color guy spent most of the first inning ranting about how bad it is that players watch video of their at bats, then was bewildered as to why pitcher threw to third on a bunt when the catcher was yelling "3! 3! 3!" because three means first base.

McCarver was complaining about teams trying to drive up pitch counts on the opposing pitcher last night. "Get him out of the game by scoring runs, not by raising his pitch count!"

I know a Mets fan who is a complete meatball and 100% believes that isn't true. Luckily, I don't know him well.

I don't know the name of the one Cardinals color guy that has a heavy Missouri accent, but his voice is shredded and it sounds like he's dying

That's Tim McCarver, main FOX announcer for about 100 years.

Bartolo Colon hit a home run for the first time in 19 years. It was off James Shields.

Barely made it around the bases.

Yeah, that was pretty amazing. McCarver is one of those guys who people treat with reverence even though they're horsefeathering awful. Maybe it's because he carried around Bob Gibson's jock, I don't know. What I do know is that you'll routinely hear him say some of the dumbest horsefeathers you've ever heard.

The Mets can horsefeathers off, but that was fun.
