If you look at the last 11 months instead of 12 he's at a .775 OPS/101 wRC+ which is plenty valuable with the defense/positional value he provides. I'm probably never going to want to just hand him an every day position, and I'd like to see him used as a trade chip before he hits arbitration and folks no longer dream on the what if's, but he's great for the role he has.

This board will miss Javy like heroin once he's in another uniform. I hope he's a lifetime Cub, ain't my money. Lock em all up

Javy forever. This exciting young guy was on the team that finally did it, keep him around til he is 60.

He completely won me over last year mid-late in the year when he hit a big moment late game HR.

Before he hit it I said to my tv, "Javy if you do it you're my new favorite!"

He did it, so I held up my end of the bargain and ordered a Javy jersey that night.

Although I don't hate tattoos as a concept, I find that I rarely like the outcome.

Me too. I just hope he doesn't go all "Yadi" on us and get an ugly neck tattoo and Yes, I know he already has a neck tattoo of the MLB logo on the back of his neck but that one is dope lol. Pretty original too (I believe he's the only MLB player with one like it).

No big deal. Just scoring from first on a single, despite nearly coming to a full stop halfway to home.

I gotta say Baez is not my favorite Cubs player, but he is BY FAR the most entertaining Cubs player. Even when he makes a mistake it's exciting and he somehow pulls it off...

hell i even like him now

an odd season with the bat so far; he's 2nd worst in team WPA, narrowly "trailing" ZobWrist but he's actually been fantastic with men on base: .889 OPS and whiffing just 21% frequency

he totally falls apart in high leverage spots, which might mostly explain it, but just 29 PA so whatever

Baez doesn't impress the Pirates announcers. Must have forgotten their names
