With the difference making hitters more or less off the market (except Lucroy, who would cost too much in all likelihood), I'd settle for the "6th starter".

I think we already got him in Mike Montgomery. If there's an injury to the rotation, I'd expect him to get sent down and stretched out.

Not going to lie, a bit disappointed if nothing happens with teams like the Mets and Giants getting appreciably better today.

They haven't really gotten that much better. I am not worried about what they have gotten so far.

The only 2 moves that I can think of where I thought 'man i wish that move didn't happen' were the Hill/Reddick to LA trade and Melancon to the Nats.

30 minutes left and nothing major has happened today so far. It's been kinda boring so far.

Seeing as it was unlikely we were the team that did anything major, I'm pretty happy that nothing major has happened and made another NL team clearly better (i.e. Sale to the Dodgers or something similar)

I would have preferred to have been rumored to be doing something big and having it fall through then to just go quietly and not hear any rumors. Like the 20 minutes after the Lucroy deal fell through and realizing that the Cubs were one of the 3 other teams talking with Milwaukee was kind of exciting until it was clear the Cubs weren't all that serious (that we know of).

I am fine with the end result (Chapman and Montgomery) overall though, just wanted some excitement on trade deadline day.

While I'd love the Cubs to get Odorizzi or something, I think the price would be way too high. At this point, I doubt anything else huge happens, unless the Rangers cave and give the Brewers Gallo for Lucroy while waiving his option for next year.

From 2011-2014 he was a pretty effective reliever. Maybe the Cubs think Bosio can work his magic and get him there again. My guess is the Cubs didn't give up a lot but then again there were supposedly 3 other teams talking to LA for him.

Joey Gallo expected to come back to Milwaukee.

he struck out 3 times boarding the plane

Brewers got their left handed Rob Deer 2.0

The Smith acquisition makes me wonder if Wood or Montgomery is gonna be stretched out for the 6th starter spot. Otherwise it makes no sense. He doesn't have spot when Grimm comes back up.
