Like most on the board, I never doubted the Cubs would get something going against the Reds. With the win, they're in sole possession of first place and trail only Baltimore for the best record in the majors.

Simon started 5 games against the Cubs with the Reds in 2014 and pitched extremely well, allowing only 5 R in 32 2/3 IP. But those were the old Cubs and Simon is both old and not good. Hopefully the Cubs can do some damage early and often, Lackey pitches better and the Cubs wrap up another series win.

Off days suck, but the Cubs certainly don't.

Hollandsworth was saying something today on Lead Off Man about how the Cubs have seen like 240 more pitches than the second place team in MLB, so like Cubs hitters have basically seen almost two more games worth of pitches than the next highest team.

is lackey this year's "I have tickets to the game, i hope it isn't his turn" starter?

If the rotation holds intact it looks like I'll see Hendricks twice and Lackey once this summer.

Very interesting comment by Bosio on the score today. Said that in Hammel starts this year, Schwarber will come in early and go over scouting reports and game plan as if he was catching in the game in an effort to continue his development while he's out.

Certainly seems like the Cubs aren't convinced his catching days are over.

Well it's not like he can do a lot else right now. Even if he doesn't end up catching again, it's a way to keep his mind on baseball during a long injury recovery.
