Yeah, I think he'll be ok relatively quickly. He didn't seem particularly down in the postgame interview, and neither did Joe...though both were careful with what they said.

I'm trying to remain optimistic in the fact that they reported an ankle sprain and didn't say anything about the knee and just hoping that means the initial tests were clean on the knee, but I am definitely fearing not hearing Thuggish Ruggish Bone this year at Wrigley.

Well I wouldn't expect Joe to sound down, he's the kind of manager who has players that feed off his energy and vibes. Kyle didn't sound down necessarily but he didn't say anything that made me feel better about the situation.

We will see, I'm trying to stay positive until I have a reason not to which, if you've followed my post history over the last 13 years, is not easy for me.

Due to Soler being useless until the temps get above 75, I'm guessing when Javy gets back he takes over at third and KB takes left?

I doubt this is an actual thing the Cubs are going to operate on.

Even in the cold, I still have more confidence in Soler at the plate than Baez.

This is all Joes fault for saying that things work themselves out in regards to Szczur/Baez.

i heard harold reynolds basically did blame him for moving guys around all the time or something like that

So nice of him to take time away from sexually harassing women to comment on this situation.

this is an actual thing that people think

"too PC to say it". It makes so much sense. The venn diagram of Trump fans and Cardinals fans is a perfect circle.

i love the after-the-fact explanation that part of the reason it's bad to put an awkward guy in the outfield isn't just that he'll cost you runs defensively but also that he'll suicide/take out your other players with his bumbliness. this is obviously nonsense and just isn't a thing anyone rational would expect to happen.

if this were such a regular occurrence, omc would have a video in his collection of adam dunn spiking himself so hard that his foot comes off at the ankle and he bleeds out.

the part about this that feels weird is that i'm not really worried about how the severity of this injury impacts the ultimate fate of this team (though we'd miss having that type of lefty bat a bit). I'm just worried about not getting to watch schwarber and having to wonder if it'd be more awesome with him.

Yeah, I think the actual impact to the W/L would be minimal, given the team's depth. But knowing we were missing glorious Schwarbombs would make me sad.

Typical results-based thinking. If anything having a bumbling idiot out there (Schwarber is not one) would make it less likely they would collide with someone because they wouldn't get into position to do so in the first place.
