Can't wait to trade Kimbrel for two 17 year olds (one of which is named Brett Bretterson) and I'm told it's good or whatever.

Everything is relative.

And if we're gonna trade Yu for 3 high schoolers, mineaswell® commit and trade Kimbrell for one Brett Bretterson.

Waves and waves

A live look at the Cubs org:

Serious question…if the fire was so intense that the flames are literally on the ocean surface, what’s the point of shooting more water at it?

It's not water. It's more like the fire-retardant foam that comes out of a fire extinguisher. It's an attempt to starve the fire of oxygen.

baez is on pace for a 4 win season

I wonder what’s the all time highest WAR for the MLB leader in K’s

Aaron Judge had an 8 WAR season in 2017 by either of the WAR metrics. Trout in 2014 only led the AL but he was either 7.7 WAR or 8.3 WAR. I don’t know how to search for those two combined stats but those two names jumped out immediately.

Sammy was a 6.5 or 7.1 WAR player in 1998 and led the league in Ks.

I was going to try and find it but I'm just going to go with Aaron Judge's 2017 - lead the league with 208 Ks and had a 8.3 fwar.

Reggie Jackson had a 8.9 fWAR with 142 Ks in 1969.

Babe Ruth led the League in Ks 5 times, in four of those - 23, 24, 27 and 28 - he topped 10 fWAR. In 1923, he led the League with 93 Ks and had 15.0 fWAR.

ETA - after double checking, both Jackson in 69 and Ruth in 23 led the Majors in Ks, not just the League.

Looking at this differently, there are 27 players all time who finished with a WAR at or above 4 but finished the season with an OBP under .300.

Javy at .282 currently, would have the 2nd lowest OBP for someone with a bWAR over 4 since 1910 after Bert Campanaris in 1972 (.278 OBP, 5.4 bWAR)
