Joe Buck's World Series winning call still gives me goosebumps

and after 1 year as a Cardinal, Dex's leadoff homer and reaction still brings a smile to my face.

what could leonys martin's role on the cubs be in the future? if by some act of god heyward is traded during the offseason, would he be an adequate replacement in right or center?

Good lord, no.

This might be too soon but this season was a success. How many championship teams even win their division the following year, let alone advance to the NLCS or ALCS?

Most of the core is intact for next year. No career ending injuries and the team remains divisional favorites.

Frustrating not to repeat? Of course! We'll look back at this as a golden era though. Let's take that Giants even year horrsfeathers and reclaim it for ourselves.

Yeah, if you buy into the idea that winning a title has a hangover effect for whatever reason(exhaustion/lack of rest after long playoff run + celebration, lack of urgency having just won a title, etc), then the Cubs are a huge success. They're the first WS winner in 6 years to make the playoffs the next year, and the first in 8 years to win 90 games.

There are obviously enough core pieces in place to just make some minor adjustments and still come back as the favorites in the NL Central.

A year ago, it looked like the Cubs could mostly just put things in cruise control and win their division for the next half-decade. A year later, it’s clear the Cubs have some legitimate issues to try and resolve this winter.

Good gracious. Setting aside the terribly unfocused narrative here, he mentions trading 1) Russell at all and 2) Baez OR Russell as if the two were interchangeable, almost ancillary parts of this team. Cameron beings the quality of the Fangraphs staff down a huge amount on his own

"The Cubs cruised to an NL Central title this year and will next year, too. Last year it looked like the Cubs could cruise to the NL Central title every year, but that's not the case anymore."

He was on with Bernstein and Goff the other day and was saying innumerable dumb things, the worst of which was him talking about recency bias when discussing using Duensing instead of Wilson i the playoffs. Idiot.

Also, Russell was worth fewer WAR because he missed like 6 weeks with injury, so he had less time to accumulate it. Numbnuts.
