HE INTERRUPTED JOE'S DAILY BUSINESS.

that's tony larussa

Joe just hasn't been busted.

That's why he only drives RV's. "Am I driving, officer, or am I at home? You can see the confusion, I'm sure."

This is mostly just Heyman continuing to be Heyman, but horsefeathers it...

There continue to be whispers that Bryce Harper could eventually wind up with the Cubs, where he’d join great friend Kris Bryant. The two sluggers are both from Las Vegas and knew each other growing up.

Also from that, this:

Some think John Farrell will take a year off. But the Cubs could make sense for him, if Davey Martinez gets the Nats managing job. Farrell’s two sons are with the Cubs. Luke is a pitcher, Shane a scout.

btw it's very annoying how Heyman seems to report both sourced info and his own speculation in the same way.

Anyone think we might start to hear something a little more concrete about the next step with the TV rights this offseason? Maybe at Cubs convention?

It's *after* the 2019 season that it expires, right?

That was a very good assessment of the team, though.

It was the lazy get traffic assessment of the team and not really understanding that we are in a still really big window.

it called them "perennial contenders" for the future.

We've been lucky to have three straight years of 90+ wins, that rarely rarely happens. Even rarer is for that to happen at the beginning of a window.

But there's a very narrow margin for this team (any team,) and given our pitching and bullpen issues, there's a reasonable argument you could make that what looked like an unstoppable juggernaut 12 months ago could be a couple injuries away from a win total in the mid 80s.

Almost every team in baseball is a couple injuries away from an 80 win team.

It is slightly terrifying that the starting pitching options going forward seem to mostly revolve on miracles, sorcery and osmosis.

what

Shitty FA pitching market for a while, not so impressive starting pitching options in the farm system. Things can look real bad real fast. This has been discussed before; it's not a crazy thing to be a tad worried about.

trades are a thing and are the direction we are likely headed for at least one starter this offseason

well i'm pretty confident that whatever part of our positional surplus they choose to deal can get us a pitcher we'll be happy to have

They've got money, they've got major league talent to trade from, and they've got 3 damn good starters currently and one of the best 6th guys in the league too. Not a bad situation to be in at all.
