I know it's meatbally but it bothers me that the Yankees got all the headlines for the interview bit when the cubs have been doing it for at least half the season. I'm definitely rooting against them in the playoffs now, starlin be damned.

Every once in a while I remember that Theo Epstein breaking both the Red Sox and Cubs droughts is a thing that actually happens and my mind is blown.

Is there a more mic drop resume?

Posted
I kinda forgot Starlin was on a good Cubs team until posting that. It seems like he's been gone more than 2 years.

He'll always have September 2015.

How dare you shitheads unfairly slander my beloved Starlin:

“It was definitely spontaneous,’’ said utility infielder Ronald Torreyes, who came up with the idea. Via interpreter, Torreyes said he told shortstop Didi Gregorius to grab something to use as a microphone “and we’ll do the interview’’ with Torreyes acting as the cameraman.

EAT IT, YOU CRUMB BUMS.

Still, another former Cub, stealing whatever he can, to help ease the pain of us not wanting him anymore.

I spent most of this season being annoyed with this team, yet here they are with a pretty good shot at finishing with 93 horsefeathering wins. I enjoy how spoiled I've become by Theo's Cubs.

I was kind of OK with trading Wade before the break, if things had went bad right afterwards. Not sure which was my worst hot take.....That, or hating Trubisky. Guess the Bulls rebuild could technically play its way into things too, but I'm thinking its trading Wade.

Thinking the Bears draft was a full 2017 red shirt for honorable mention.

Ooh, damn. Lol. That includes Trubisky, but yeah, definite HM at least.

Where is Duke’s post where he promised 92 wins? It was at the height of the closet vaunted Brewers fans ceding the division.

Fueled by a Mad Men gif rampage, the Cubs will dominate their foes in the second half, while single-handedly destroying all hope the Brewers and Cardinals have of making the playoffs. The Cubs will win 92 games and go on to win the World Series. (For context in the future, this is being posted at the height of the closet vaunted Brewers fans ceding the division.)

There was an even earlier post where one of the VB fans was bemoaning how horrible we were, and you said "I promise you this team will win 92 games." You were breaking down the remaining schedule and trying to point out that the Brewers had actually been pretty terrible. For some reason it was a post that stuck with me.

Luckily I predicted every possible record between 85 and 117 wins so no matter what I had a post I could bring up.

it's pretty funny how frustrating this year has felt and there have been, at most, 3 better seasons in any of our pre-theo lifetimes. and if they win tomorrow, they tie the 89 team.

To be fair, the lopsided nature of the season (under .500 at the break, and zooming out ahead afterwards) probably gave us a lot of room to feel frustrated. Even when the team is in the midst of a great second half run, there's probably enough residual irritation from the initial scuffling that I can imagine people not enjoying it enough.

Hard to be too frustrated when you are coming off your first World Series championship in a century. If people can't enjoy this team, they are freaking weirdos.

Yeah, I get being frustrated at the time they're struggling, but to still be bothered by that now? That's just a season-sized version of Kyle's griping like how Theo and co.'s initial losing seasons would somehow taint when they started winning.

Something sucks at the time, by why would that make something good suck in the future?

Yeah, sorry, that's what I meant to say. If there is residual irritation from the first half, I'd think it would be canceled out by the residual joy of winning the World Series.

Regardless, it would be silly to hold the first half against them with how they've played in the second half.

And even the irritation from the earlier struggles was based on, "these guys should and can easily be so much better," as opposed to, "this is a bad team that just sucks."

And call me a big ol' baby, but I largely want another WS ASAP solely because of how Election Night came right after last year's. That legit kinda ruins any time I look back on it: to swing that far from complete joy to complete awfulness that quickly.
