Do you guys remember the name of that prime time soap opera from the 80's that starred Joan Collins?

Wasn't it called, Your mother is a whore? Maybe not, I can't remember.

Mozeliak preparing to take down the Cubs

Haha, I thought that was Stanley Tucci for a second. Good news is that once they make a movie about the Cardinals, Tucci has an almost guaranteed part.

I can't begin to tell you how much I hate Matheny. I mean I was annoyed with TLR and thought he was starting to lose it his last few years, but Matheny is just bad on almost every conceivable level.

It must be something Heyward told him, right? Others in the league perhaps, too, but that's the closest direct relationship I can see.

So I guess it's about Matheny. I love it

So Fowler and Heyward are long time buds...and Heyward left, leaving money on the table. Maybe he relayed a few things to Fowler?

Someone should remind that guy how many fans the Cardinals were really actually drawing while still in the thick of wild card contention, rather than just tickets sold.

My favorite personal anecdote about terrible cardinals fans. I worked for a company in STL that had tickets to every home game, which employees could put there name in for and use if the executives didn't want them. At the end of the 2006 season, the woman in charge of the tickets, would call me before every game, because I was the only one that wanted the tickets out of the 500 employees that worked there. These were seats, behind the on deck circle, with free food and drinks, and if I didn't take the tickets they would go unused. This was in a year they won the world series.

edit: and I most often went with my Dodger fan friend, because none of the Cardinals fans wanted to go.

Maybe the common cardinals fan can't afford the gas to get there.

When is MLB going to punish them for the hacking scandal? Or are they just going to keep pretending it didn't exist?

If it is revealed that it wasn't the Russians, but the Cardinals, that installed Trump as President, I'm going to be even more disappointed in Dex for signing with them.

They've probably been waiting for the new CBA to be in place(check) and for free agency to finish to evaluate what the right draft pick punishment is.

That reminds me, does the new CBA allow them to keep their competitive balance oick?

Yes, the competitive balance picks are still around. I believe I saw the Cardinals were in the 'B' class this year, which means they get the worse of the two types of picks, but in the new CBA they also get 500k more to spend internationally than the 'A' class(and a full million more than the rest of the non-poors).

That said, they went over their cap last year so are in a penalty in 2017 and 2018.

So I grew up squarely in Cardinals territory. Every teacher, coach, classmate, etc. that I could think of that gave me a hard time growing up received a Cubs Christmas card that simply said "Merry Christmas from the World Champions!" Some of these people will have no idea who sent it, and others will know immediately. I haven't seen some of these people in 15 years. Most of them will take it pretty well, but I honestly think a couple of people will be really pissed.

I love it. Sweet vengeance!

Yep, I'm totally stealing this idea.

The best thing I have done has been to (for the most part) avoid any interaction with the asshats known as cardinal fans.

The last real situation I found myself in was with a guy here in town. Something was said about the cubs being the best team in baseball (this was in August or early September). He immediately started in on the 11 RINGS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1111111 I told him to cool his horsefeathers, this isn't about 11 rings. We're talking this season. If we are talking best organization of all time it's the Yankees, but yea the Cards are better historically than the Cubs. So fíng what? Of course, the mouth breather had to remind me to "talk to me when you have 11 rings." I ended it by telling him that up to that point, the Cubs were the best team in baseball and there's really no argument. As for your 11 Rings, great! Congrats. However, the 2016 Cubs aren't playing against the 67, 82, 06, or 11 Cards -- or any others. So give it up. Go count your damn rings and call me when your team closes that 15 game gap they are facing today.

Most of the bullcrap stopped last year when the Cubs steam rolled their ass in the NLDS. Another faction went away when the Cubs were up by a bazillion games in the 2nd half. The rest of them went away when Bryant made the final throw to Rizzo. Done. Finished. Not even a random 11 RINGS comment.

And here's the deal. I used to respect the crap out of the Cardinal organization and its fans. But as the cubs slowly began forming a respectable baseball organization, the cardinal fans became more and more insufferable. No doubt there are plenty of great baseball / cardinal fans and IF they can carry on a normal conversation about baseball we can be great friends. . . . . I've just found way too many around here that have their panties in too big of a bunch about the cubs to carry on that conversation. It's sad.
