What an odd take....

http://time.com/4558820/chicago-cub-world-series-money/

What could explain such a take???

Drew Haase

Haase is a community dispute mediator in New York City and has been a Cardinals adherent since the first time he watched Lou Brock steal a base.

Ohhhhhh baby that's delicious.

But the Cubs have become the hard-working neighbor kid whose soul disappeared when he got a fat inheritance.

People like this deserve all the ulcers

He even starts it perfectly. All steamed over a perceived wrong strike call while his wife and kid chide him about his inability to keep it together. It's almost like he wrote this for us.

How are the Cardinals supposed to compete when they're only spending ~$150 million?

And his comment about the Cubs not drafting/developing players just shows that he doesn't really follow baseball very closely.

Basically, he wants the Cubs to win by acquiring and developing "mid-level players". LOL. if you don't have bad players, then you can't be a great team. everyone knows that.

There was also a thread of nothing but Cub failure images during game 7. Most of them were the rote tired stuff, but this one was actually really funny, at least to me.

Seeing this picture - this moment - is when I realized the Cubs won the WS this year without thinking in my head "OMG THE CUBS WON THE WORLD SERIES"

I look at this silly MS paint picture of Lilly slamming his glove on the mound and laugh to myself. but, this time it doesn't sting a tiny bit at the end when I remember it was part of a series of events that took place leading to a cubs playoffs elimination.

Titles only count if your roster if full of David Freese and Matt Adams

Never underestimate a mental gymnast's ability to rationalize anything to stick with their preconceived ideas and biases. We'll always be a terrible, flawed organization based on losing to them, even if we win the next 10 world series in a row by scouting, drafting, and developing the next 10 Mike Trouts and 10 Clayton Kershaws. Arguing with bitter Cardinals fans is like getting into an argument with an idiot... they'll drag you down into a dumboff, and beat you with experience.

I hope that dope who always buys a Cards jersey with the number of years it's been for the Cubs on the back shows up next year in a 0 jersey. He won't, obviously, but I wish he would.

The Cardinals are a cursed organization on a 3 year title drought.

Don't shortchange them. It's 5 years. They lost the 2013 series to Boston.

There are 5 year olds who have never seen the Cardinals win anything and it's beautiful.

Thank you for this link. Sooooooo many things wrong with this take. But I loved reading it. First time I've laughed since Tuesday night.

Imagine if the Cubs, who drafted Bryant and Rizzo (not to mention Baez) had "drafted well". What would that look like? Steve Nebraska at 4 different positions?

Posted
The Cubs didn't draft Rizzo, although the guys that run the Cubs did (which may be what you mean). They also drafted Schwarber, of course.

I like to think Rizzo is an honorary home grown player, considering one or all of the Cubs brain trust drafted him and twice traded for him.

I meant Schwarber
