So I just was checking out Buxton's stats...yeesh. That Bryant thing just keeps getting more hilarious.

I realize Buxton is just 22 years old and has only played 92 games in his career, but his line this year is .211/.248/.367 and .210/.249/.348 for his career. That goes along with a 13/105 BB/K rate in his career and a 38% K rate this season. And despite elite tools, UZR has him as a below average defender. All this after he had a three year stretch where he was ranked no lower than the #2 prospect in baseball by BA, BP, and mlb.com entering those seasons. Again, still very early, but this could be quite the epic bust. He looked like the surest thing ever not too long ago.

Steven Matz uses the Coghlan song too. That makes at least 4 players. Where did this come from?

Shelby Miller, who the DBacks gave up like way too much to get, has an ERA right now of nearly 9

Here we are in July and his ERA is still in the 7's. I'm sure Miller will stabilize and return to respectability even if he doesn't pitch like he did last year (which wasn't even great, it 'pretty good'), but depending on how Swanson turns out this might be mentioned among the worst trades of all time when all is said and done.

If you want to make it sound worse, consider the two trades between the two teams:

Shelby Miller, Phil Gosselin, and some cash for getting rid of Bronson Arroyo's corpse

for

Swanson

Aaron Blair

Ender Inciarte

In an effort to get Yan Gomes out of his season long slump, the Indians held a sacrificial ritual where they sacrificed an already cooked chicken in the name of Jobu to exorcise his demons.

Welp...

Cleveland Indians catcher Yan Gomes left Sunday's game against the Minnesota Twins because of a right shoulder injury.

Gomes suffered the injury when he fell and landed awkwardly on his shoulder while running to first base. Gomes' right arm was put in a sling, and he was carted off the field.

On Saturday, the Indians held what second baseman Jason Kipnis described as a "sacrificial ceremony" in the clubhouse before their game against the Twins in Minneapolis, with the hope of helping Gomes end his season-long slump. They took a page from the movie "Major League," including a chicken offering to the baseball gods.

"I don't think it worked," catcher Chris Gimenez said of the ceremony.

The pitcher was on deck and Starling Marte ended up hitting the game-winning HR in that at bat in the 18th.

Was he asleep and dreaming about fishing?

I've seen the Red Sox, White Sox and Giants droughts broken. I don't care about anyone else's freaking droughts, if anything it depresses me when other teams break their droughts.

eh. honestly, i couldn't care less about our drought on a personal level. i get that it'll be very cool for all the very old people and stuff (as it would be for those other teams' older fans), but i just want to see a championship because i want my team to win one. especially since i haven't seen one. the same goes for the bears, too, though. if i had happened to start following the bulls 3 years later, i'd be in the same boat too there (thank god for that lol).

but yeah, i don't see myself as "long suffering" or whatever nor do i think i deserve one anymore than any one. basically i take no ownership personally in the drought at all aside from how cool the whole spectacle will be outside of my own happiness from winning.
