Sounds like a smart decision.

I have to say, I don't root for anyone to be injured, but it would be slightly satisfying if the Cubs slug their way to a World Series title while the Mets miss the playoffs because all their young talented pitchers get hurt, because of the rebuild with hitters or pitchers dynamic.

Trout has a 4.9 fWAR. Will probably be well over 5 fWAR before the ASB and on pace for his best season yet, and he may potentially be pushing an 11-win season. I like how what he's doing has become so commonplace to everyone that no one really is drawing much attention to it. He's not in the headlines, he's not being featured everywhere in the media for having one of the more historic offensive seasons, he's just Mike Trout and this is what we expect from him so let's not talk about that and talk about something else a little more dramatic because everyone knows this is going to happen.

I think Bumgarner hitting for himself is incredibly dumb. I mean, it's cool that he's hit some home runs and all. But, he's also not a very good hitter. He's hitting .176 this year with a .611 OPS. That's nice that he had a decent, power-heavy batting line the previous two years, but he's also struck out over 35% of the time since 2014. If he doesn't hit a home run, then he's worthless with the bat.

And to forfeit the use of a DH is ridiculous. I hope he gets knocked out in the third inning.

It is a fun story. And it's rather harmless, being that it's just one game and one spot in the order. So I don't care too much. But, it's still stupid.

Duke does not want to #makeBaseballFunAgain

Fun is fine, so long as it's not hurting the team. Bat flips! Awesome. PItcher gesturing after a big 3rd out K? Yes please! Swapping pitchers and left fielders in a 15 inning game where you've run out of players? Sure, why not! But while this could work out, I think it's a situation where the team is put at a disadvantage.

I'm not rooting for any injuries either, but I know a meathead Mets fan, and that's enough for me to somewhat enjoy it if everything goes to hell for them.

Bulging disc, per Jason Stark. Doesn't heal with rest

Not sure how long he's out for but its retroactive to June 27th so hypothetically he's eligible to come off the DL the day of the all star game. I don't think it's likely they activate him so he can play in an exhibition though so looks like ASG starter spot is open

Or maybe the game can go 15+ innings. Would love to see Bochy have to juggle pinch hitters/double switches just because he decided not to use the DH.

Didnt he have a pretty slow start to the year? He must be kicking some serious ass lately if hes on pace to have his best year.

LA Times[/url]"]The Dodgers want to get a better handle on Kershaw’s absence — the ace is expected to miss at least a month — and how well newly acquired right-hander Bud Norris and returning starters Brandon McCarthy (elbow surgery) and Hyun-Jin Ryu (shoulder surgery) fare this month before plunging into the market. And the need for a bat could exceed the need for an arm.

...

Friedman said Kershaw, who received an epidural on Wednesday, has begun a five-step rehabilitation program that emphasizes core-strengthening. But a timeline for Kershaw’s return is tough to pinpoint.

“So much of this is specific to the individual — it really varies from guy to guy,” Friedman said. “Throwing will be a big step, and as soon as we can get him there in a responsible way, we’ll do it.”

Zack Hample, the baseball douche, got lambasted on Twitter for attending the Fort Bragg game, which was supposed to only be for military personnel, soldiers, and their families, and closed off to the public. He claimed he had a friend in active duty who had tickets who took him instead of his girlfriend who didn't want to go, but he offered anyone with a ticket a couple weeks prior to that $1,000 for a ticket. People were... not happy.

Is Jim Thome the greatest White Sox first baseman? Vote and let us know. https://t.co/sxZw6iVUFA https://t.co/hOgbvE8Nu3

That's a real question @ChicagoSports just asked......WTF.

To make this even better......Thome played 4 games at 1B for the White Sox......

Frank Thomas played 969 @ 1B

He was principally the first basement from 1990-1997 before he became a full time DH, so let's just count those year's fWAR.

From 1990-1997 Frank Thomas accrued 48.7 fWAR

Paul Konerko, arguably the only other contender for this prestigious honor, accrued 23.2 fWAR over his entire career of 18 years in a White Sox uniform.

Even if we go 1990-1994, which includes the strike shortened season, Thomas put up 30 fWAR. And that was 100% offensive based, even playing 1B. His defensive metrics on FanGraphs are atrocious. During that 8 year time frame of 1990-1997, FG's combined defensive rating on Thomas was -132.0. Despite this colossal failure of a number, his bat was so good he put up four 7 WAR seasons from 1990-1997 and six total 6.0+ WAR seasons. During that stretch only two players in major league baseball were more valuable than Frank Thomas : Ken Griffey, Jr. and Barry Bonds, and only Bonds was rated a better hitter than Thomas was during that time.

Frank Thomas was horsefeathering awesome and is, and always will be, the White Sox best first baseman and it's laughable they are so desperate for content they needed to put it to a vote.

So now all of White Sox Nation is talking about potential calling up Tim Anderson and I decided to check his stats and he has a career minor league 64-332 BB-KK ratio

So basically, the perfect White Sox player. Why should I expect him to not get eaten alive at the majors?

I don't know who this is, and read it as though he was a pitcher. I was confused why you thought he'd get eaten alive. I am slow today.
