Hey let's go cubs, get some runs, hit dongs, make some plays. Throw the ball, hit the ball, catch the ball, all that good stuff. I'm predicting a good outing for mr hammel. He has to regress to the norm sometime this second half, right? It's either that or he is just awful, but I'm gonna with he is not awful.

I can't believe the Cubs have somehow lost 4 games to the Pirates in a week (since we won Saturday afternoon and were temporarily 0.5 back). It doesn't even feel like we have lost that much.

Can we be lucky enough to get Len for two straight Fox games?

FOX blackouts are the wooooooooooooooooooooorst

If you're not in the Cubs territory for this game it is still on MLB.TV.

i believe that ct and i are in the same area (brooklyn). i also can't watch it on mlb.tv; it goes straight to the radio feed.

Russell is up to a 21.5 UZR/150 and 8 DRS at SS. He was at 9 DRS at 2B in almost twice as many innings. Pretty good at defense, that one.

This has probably already been discussed somewhere else, and I know it's a weird subject. But given that at this point, best case scenario is trying to make up 3 games over the last 7 for home field...couldn't Pittsburgh making a run at St. Louis probably be the best overall outcome for the rest of the season?

Obviously home field would be nice, but Pittsburgh and St. Louis going balls out to win the division that last weekend (with Cole, wacha, liriano, etc) has to be about as much as we can hope for right?

Just an FYI to my fellow MLB.tv watchers. They done fucked up their blackouts today. If we hadn't clinched last night I would drive over to MLBAM headquarters and throw rocks through the windows here in Austin.

I think optimal scenario if Cubs can't catch Pirates is Cardinals and Pirates play a tie breaking game so they have to burn either Cole or whoever St Louis starts

Yeah, if we win today, maybe keep going with jake tomorrow. If we lose...id consider skipping him for a few reasons. Give him a rest, don't let Pittsburgh see him, and because at that point it might be best to optimize their chances of catching the cardinals.
