Get me the route efficiency on that!

It will look like on of those Family Circus strips:

So arrieta is on pace for a 6-war season. Mark prior in 2003 was near 2 war higher. That seems unfathomable

i was just looking at this earlier today.

prior in 2003, in a much stronger offensive environment:

had a better k/9

had a better bb/9

was .1 worse in hr/9

had a better fip

than jake arrieta going into tonight's start.

TEARS AND TEARS.

I would so punch Dusty in the snot box if I ever met him.

I feel you every time i think about Prior i get pretty angry. Could you imagine what kind of career he would have put up if he stayed healthy? Could even be in HoF talks. That kid was the real deal... (still have a prior jersey from back then)

I still don't get why fans turned as quickly as they did on Prior. Yeah, him being injured was frustrating, but so much of it was due to freak things like getting clobbered on the basepaths or taking a line drive off of the elbow or his friggin' manager trying to get his arm to spin around like a pinwheel. I start to think it was carryover from people being fed up with Wood's injuries, but it's not like Cubs fans actually hated Wood himself at that point. Personality-wise he was a dud, but I never remember him coming off as a dick; was it really so much of a, "oh, you think you're too good for us, eh, college boy?!?!" thing?

They would have hated wood so much more if he did not actively try to "apologize " for his injury with his next contract. All fans hate injured players. Prior was the norm, wood was different.

I think there was two big things with fans turning on Prior. One was that he just never seemed to heal. It's not his fault, but there got to be the "Prior is a [expletive]" meme going around. And two, just the way the media covered with the obsessive "Prior watch". I think people just got sick of hearing about it.

I blame the towels.
