It feels like this team has never hit for the cycle

Grace is the last one right?

Remember when walker would've had one but he decided to homer instead of double vs Houston (iirc...going off memory after eleven years here)

Todd Walker damn near had one back in 04. Needed a double in his last AB of a game in Houston and hit a home run about 4 feet over the wall instead

I remember that. I wanted him to stop at 2B and refuse to advance.

As I recall, right before that home run he hit a would-be double that landed just foul.

I remember Derrek Lee just needed a triple in a blowout and took the easy double instead of trying for the triple, I'm guessing that it was during his most insane part of '05.

I hate you for beating me to that, Andy

Did prior start that game?

So arrieta is on pace for a 6-war season. Mark prior in 2003 was near 2 war higher. That seems unfathomable

You recall correctly.

yeah I don't think this is what Theo/Jed was looking for when trading for Hunter.

Haren and Hunter have probably been our two worst players since the deadline. If you would have told me that, I would have thought we'd be hanging around .500.

He was doing what arrieta is doing when like twenty guys were hitting 40+ hr

i was just looking at this earlier today.

prior in 2003, in a much stronger offensive environment:

had a better k/9

had a better bb/9

was .1 worse in hr/9

had a better fip

than jake arrieta going into tonight's start.

I hope my thought process doesn't have to shift from worrying about the aesthetics of the run differential to worrying about the win.

Why worry about run differential anyways?

You thought we'd be around .500 solely on the basis of our 5th starter and a middle reliever being the worst players on the team?
