La Stella came up to replace Soler, so Coghlan is going to be playing RF and La Stella 2B. Castro will probably get some time at 2B too.

That's really too bad for Soler, he wasn't hitting the cover off the ball like the rest of the guys but he was starting to get that power going and it would have been nice to see where he ended up by the end of the season. Now that his season is close to ending in an ambiguous way, it ends in no conclusive way for the (Kyle) critics and optimists in the world. So the worst possible thing has occurred: we're going to continue to have pointless debate forever.

Motte is like, whatever.

Oh well on Soler. If he doesn't come back this sesason he will be the starting RF next year almost certainly. Still hold out pretty good hope for him mostly because he still doesn't have a ton of minor/major league ABs so there is still development there, and the best attibute he was supposed to have, power, was non existent. Is it possible the oblique has been bothering him for awhile, zapping him of power? Either way its likely an adjustment and better luck that will give him more power.

If he was just a bust and a bad hitter, he would at least be destroying mistake pitches every so often and his BA would likely be lower. Instead hes hitting around .260 with minimal power.

I can't wait to have a completely unwarranted hatred of Tommy LaStella because this should be Baez's spot.

He will get his shot in September.

Ehhh...it's only a week till Baez comes up anyway. Hard to generate that much hatred in that case.

is tommy lastella allowed to bring his iron lung onto the field or does he just have to hold his breath while the other team bats

Who was that Cubs player a few years ago that took a swing and immediately curled up in pain? That's how I imagine La Stella's first at bat will be.

Look at it as he's just postponing the crushing slap of reality. He's actually kind of a hero!

Should we not be concerned that Chris Denorfia is now our everyday RF for the home stretch? Far from a death blow, but all I'm saying is that maybe we should start making some calls.

I don't think you understand how...anything...works.

That is more than likely vs. LHP only.

Russell is out with a Groin Strain and is Day 2 Day. That is more concerning for me as he has been very good as of late.

I understand that our starting RF is about to hit the DL for about a month. I understand that a month long DL stint can become a 2 month DL stint. I understand that it's August 25 and a 2 month DL stint= a season ending DL stint. I understand that we're closing in on our 1st post season opportunity in what feels like eons, and when we get there, it would be nice to have the best team possible. I understand that we have 2 men on our active roster who have spent time in RF, and one of them just hit the DL and the other is Chris Denorfia. I understand that if this were a video game, we could simply plug Bryant, Schwarber, or Coghlan in RF and they wouldn't miss a beat. I understand that this isn't a video game. I understand that there are about 12 teams who are for all practical purposes out of post season contention, many of whom have plenty of players already through waivers that we don't even know about, some of which can probably play RF. And if we could acquire one at the right price, we should look into it. Understandably.
