When should they start thinking about moving Coghlan from the #3 spot? I understand the late in the game switch reasons, but he's been absolutely wretched this month and was unremarkable at best in July. He's obviously not hurting the lineup, but I'd prefer to make a good thing even more gooder.

 

Yeesh, I knew he was struggling, but .214/.289/.330/.620 since July 1st (32 games) and .171/.227/.195/.422 since July 29 (13 games)

apropos of nothing, he's been one of the worst hitters in baseball for driving in runs and the #3 hitter doesn't relatively face near as many of those situations as the other spots that surround it

That was my first thought, but the first sentence actually means that out of the other 29 teams, he only gets extra pleasure out of beating the Cards. Wins against the other 28 teams are all equivalent in pleasure generation for him.
